Thread: Working and rollerblading

    Default Working and rollerblading

    How do you mix both?
Let's say I want to work 40 hours a week. It means 8 hours a day. Let's say I start at 9am, work until 5pm, get home at 5:30.
I will probably work a job where I need to stand up all day. Therefore, I would need at least 45min to rest my legs.
I will need to study at least an hour a day. Yeah I now it's summer, but it doesn't change the fact that I want to work in medecine.
I can rest my legs while I study.
There are no good spots next to where I live so I have to commute at least 20 mins for ledges and 40 for a skatepark. 6:45pm until I get to the spot. Is it worth it to skate like an hour a day (because I would probably be too tired to skate more than that?) ? I never did it before.

If you have any tips related to this, let me know please.

only an hour is more than enough especially for everyday, as long as you dont do two tricks an hour

not every session has to be all day long to be progressive

its also a lot easier to learn tricks and pick up where you left off if you skate everyday

i work 35-40 hours a week unless i am taking a skate trip. and i skate (when i am not hurt) about 4-5 days out of a 7 day week. the key is getting a job where you work at nearly 6 in the morning so you can get off at 2. take a little break (especially because it is pretty hot outside anyways). and then skate. and with doing that once you get done skating you are pretty tired anyways, so you just go home chill and then go to bed and you can wake up for your job and not feel super tired.

Step 1 to working full time and blading-Stop being a pussy, as elementary as it reads it really is key to this whole process.

Step 2, get in better shape so you can stand all day and then blade

step three-bring your skates and clothes with you at all times

step IV; If you are too tired to skate see step 1 and skate through it

step the square root of 25) bring head phones

The longer you keep at it the easier it becomes.

Skate on the weekends. I prefer to skate 1-2 days per week (3 days max). It keeps me from aggravating any injuries I might get and also gives my muscles time to heal. As long as I stay in shape, I can not skate for months and still come back on top of my game.

build your own skate obstacles, keep them close to home.

i work 35 hours a week, sometimes twice that if i have a freelance job. i used to skate at night when it's cooler out and on weekends. sometimes i'd wake up early on a Sat or Sun and hit up the skate park before all the little kids would show up. i'd usually never skate more than 1 or 2 days in a row because of knee problems and old age

I love kids. They're short, highly emotional people who don't know anything. They rely on their creativity and imagination to get by in the world. A world, I might add, filled with giants. Amazing feat.

but really, practice rail/box and skating for an hour if you are by yourself is perfect

That's actually why I made this topic, if I had the opportunity to have a p-rail or box there would have been absolutely no problem at all.

Thanks for the tips guys. I think the best and heathier solution would be to skate once per two days.

I work full time and go to school and the only reason I haven't skated in a long time is because I've been preoccupied. I have many interests and many things I take responsibility for that I don't feel like pushing aside for skating. When they are done I will skate more. The point is that there is plenty of time to skate if it's your top priority but if you'd rather chill, smoke pot, get drunk, go out partying, study for school, sex your girlfriend, work on art pieces, play music, dick around on bee-mag, or other stuff then you'll be making posts about how busy you are all the time and CAN'T skate.

    Don't do that.

P.S. Skate on your days off nerd.

Why cant you make a p-rail? Also not all full time jobs are 5 days a week mon-fri 9-5. I used to work 10 hour days 4 days a week and then have 3 off, so that was 3 days i could skate all day if i wanted and i got off work at 3pm so i could skate evenings during the week. Nurses often work three 12 hour shifts and have 4 days off. There are other jobs that do the same.

i own my own company. work 70-100 hours a week. hardly ever take a day off. im 25, been skating since i was 10. i skate 1-2 days a week, but sometimes none. when i roll it's for a max of 4 hours and usually only 2. dedicate time to your career and life goals, which if they aren't going pro in this ridiculous low reward sport then it's pretty blatant that you should not harm your life for this. don't take it the wrong way but rolling isn't going to pay the bills and certainly isn't the way to fulfill your dreams for 99.9% of us. Your dreams should come first and then fit in rolling when you can. My strategy is not to "set time" for rolling but rather do it when it fits in and if it doesn't, well that's just fine.
