    Default 2008 Xsjado problems?

Brah, I heard that the 2008 Xsjados had weak velcro and some other things were weak or changed. Farmer 2s and Stockwell 2s are pretty cheap now and I was thinking of getting some. If not, probably some Basic 3s. Wondering the opinions on that.

The straps did suck on the '08 models. They're flimsy so they bunch up, then the ring holders spin or the rings slide out of them, and boom, loss of ankle support. The velcro does wear out pretty quickly too. They're much better on the '09 models. If straps were available seperately I'd say go for an '08 model and just upgrade the straps, but they're not so you can't so you shouldn't (go with an 08 model).

i bought the basic threes this past christmas, and haven't had any problems with them yet, the only thing that kind of sucks are the footwraps. the tongue doesn't stay centered very well, but you don't really notice it when the skate is strapped to your foot, only when you are walking. hope that helped, if not fuck you.

Thanks, Al. Wouldn't it be fine to just rip off the old worn out velcro and sew some new velcro onto the original strap?

Shiiiiitt, another $50 down the drain.

Well the issue isn't just the velcro. It's the "leather" that the strap is based on (that the velcro is sewn to)- it's too flimsy to keep the straps from bunching up in the rings, or keep the rings from moving/sliding out of the ringholder piece, which is made of the same material. The misaligned mount for the ringholder doesn't help either, it puts a lot of rotational tension on the whole strap system.

If you can find 30mm wide velcro and a better leather or webbing/seat-belt type material, and you can handle a sewing machine or are patient enough to hand-sew, you could make some new straps pretty easily.

So glad I'm getting the 2009 boot so I don't have to deal with that bullshit.

The velcro on the top strap of my damien's lasted like 2 months. So I threw on my farmer 2 straps.
