    Default Nimh cuts

What way are your Nimhs cut?

Thinking of cutting some of the side walls away at the front of some fresh shells, toes feel a bit bunched and middle toes go slightly numb after a while.

Don't want to remove the bridge across the toe box really, previously it felt great but topsides just felt a bit unsupported and floppy. Also I felt my foot slipped forwards more making the skate feel shorter in length.

I think I see what you mean. The lenght is good, but the toes are compressed towards the middle by the outside walls of the shell near the toes. I have the same feeling with toe-cutted Valos.

i cut the bridge in half, gives me some space and doesn't ruin the shell

Exactly, toes compressed towards the middle, might try cutting the sides or more off the toe first then heel before i resort back to my old bridge cut shells.

Not sure which cut would work best here to relieve a bit of toe room, wish I had a few old Classic Razors to experiment with haha.

Yeah, exactly the same problem. I was thinking about doing number 1 because my toe-cut was already at number's 2 level, can't cut any more without cutting the bridge.

I see what you mean man. Yea I might opt for a mix of both cuts and see how that goes. I know the heel cut would bring my heel back a few millimeters pulling my toes back from the narrower end of the shell but not sure if a heel cut will add too much or unwanted flex... hmmm...

Yea Al's opinion would be great here

it's didn't remove the bridge just gave it a snip, and i haven't noticed a change in flex whatsoever

Ok so i opted for the first cut shown and it feels great. I can finally wiggle my toes and they dont go numb after a while, still a few niggly pressure points which are reducing the more I skate them, but I think thats down to having brand new skates and liners.

Skate still feels firm but toe has a alot more breathing room and liners are still held back in the heel due to the bridge still being in place. Feel like they fit my foot really well, as coming off Carbons their fit was fantastic and hard to match.

Also worth mentioning I trimmed the top of the cuff straight also as when I leaned back my toes where pushed even futher towards the end of the skate reducing toe space, now this doesnt happen, only when severely leaning back.

Happy Nimh skater right here, potentially the best skate I've skated.

Out of sheer interest, may I ask what shoe size you usually wear ?

And what other skate brands sizes you have previously tried ?

Sure thing! I wear UK8 /42s in all my footwear, which is mainly Vans. I usually skate UK7's.

Skates I've had previously in a UK7 include xsjados, valos, usd carbons and classic razors.

Skates I skated in a UK6 are SLs and UFS thrones.

...and cheers Monday, it's all taken alot of work but finally I fit in these Nimhs comfortably.

    question.
was considering trying a nimh 6-7 shell, the 8-9 was too clunky and big.
have skated 8-9 valos that were cut. has anyone skated these two brands with this sizing?
trying to see if the 6-7 shell is just not gonna happen for my foot.

Heat mold it. You don't want to cut them back any further.
Do it without the skins but with the souls on!

Sounds like a great idea as well. You just cut the extra plastic piece flat, right ?

I've been skating V-cut for the past 7 years, and I was thinking about cutting a little more into the NIMH cuff in order to get a bit of that feel back... Has anyone else done it ? NIMH V-cut, yay or nay ???

i usually skate size 8-9 shells in every skate that i have owned but recently got some nimhs in the 6-7 shell to experiment.. its worth the try, they look better than the clunky 8-9 nihm shell

Hey Freddy, yea it's def a good move. I'm pretty used to a lower back skate myself coming off Carbons plus I actually cut the back bulky bit off my SL cuffs when i skated them.

But yea back to Nimhs, pretty quick process. Just take off the buckle and push the skin down, like down behind the cuff so it doesn't pop-up. Then black tape a straight line (or slightly v'd) across and gently follow the line with a sharp craft knife, skate clamped between your knees. Cuts sooo easy, pretty soft cuff. Hope this helps.
