So im learning unities...

I keep trying them on this ledge at the skatepark i go to but I can get the lock-on right, and when i fall i fall pretty bad. There's this brick ledge at this high school by my house; whenever i try them there i have no problem what so ever (this ledge is higher than the one at the skatepark). I'm wondering why this may be, and if I should just go to rails/round coping instead for H-block grinds.

Seriously, is the skatepark ledge covered with metal at the angle? Maybe it slides too much. Maybe it's the heigh, I usually have trouble with ledges that are too small.

I agree parks are evil, the ledge is 6-9 inches shorter at the park so i doubt that's the problem, i think it's the run up and the feel (i've got to haul ass around a corner)

Yeah, the overall feeling does play a major role. I suck at some spots, even if technically, the ledge is the same heigh.

But whatever, you don't need skateparks, as long as you can lace that shit on streets spots, you gon'be fine.

Park skating requires much quicker reaction time and technique. which is your problem. street skating you can go at any pace you want really and figure things out fairly slowly because you only have to worry about getting to the obstacle, getting on and getting off(or atleast for good session spots, some spots are more complicated like, ones leading into a main road).
Park, on the other hand, you have to worry about if it is your turn, who is trying to go, whether or not some little kid is going to cross your path, if a skateboarder is going to drop in unexpectedly, how fast you have to go, how to go the right speed, and a million other things. and unless the park is dead, you only get a limited time to actually go.

If you're coming at the ledge with a tur then that is going to screw up how you have to jump to lock on right. Also a lower ledge gives you less time to possition your feet and puts you in a more up right posture for the trick. All that combined can give you shit trying the trick.

I either lock in between my anti rockers and the wheels (which is scary as fuck O_O) or just completely fuck it up because im so scared, i just dont get how i can do it on a choppy brick ledge but not the nice smooth park ledge

first off, nuts directly above the rail/ledge-edge. less painful falls.
work to square up your shoulders, parallel to the obstacle.
i'm guessing the drag from the rougher street spot helps to finish off your rotation, where the slick park ledge doesnt.
(look up land friction in relation to tropical cyclones, same concept)
just try to rotate a lil TOO much, it should work out fine.

you guys have different views from me. but i find that i can do certain tricks on certain obstacles more easily than others. rails i can ao top porn like a motherfucker and i love it. then i go to some little angle iron ledge at the park and i find it a bit more difficult.

at any rate i think its safe to say that the more comfortable you are with a trick, the more you'll be able to do it on whatever youre skating on.

just gotta keep on doin it until your face falls off.

I learnt unity trying to acid. I don't find it deadly at all, its my safety trick. This may sound stupid, but try it switch. Do not do it the same way as a normal backside.

I can't wait to see you do one of those as your first trick on a down rail. By switch do you mean go the opposite direction, but still backside? Or do you mean alley-oop? because in that case I just won't listen to you.

I mean just try it the other way to what you are doing. I backside on the right, back unity on the left. It makes it easier because of the feet alignment, and you need to skate with me for months before you can understand what that means, so I won't bother explaining..

No i gotcha, by backside on the right you mean that before you spin the ledge is on your right, and by back unity on the left you mean that before you jump the ledge is on your left
