I drove past new philly for the first time the other day, I thought of James and this makes me really sad that she's pretty much got away with it. 18 months is bullshit.

You say she's got away with it, hopefully the blood of James Short is always on her hands and it's what keeps her awake at night. It's all you can hope for.

Is that 18 months and maybe even like fucking 1 year with good behavior?!

I don't understand why people feel the need to harass her. It's not going to change anything, it's not going to bring James back. You're not going to make her feel worse about what she did, and even if you could, what's the point?

She's most likely in jail awaiting trial anyway, I doubt you will be able to harass her even if you want to.

the same reason people honk after someone cuts them off, makes you feel good, they still cut you off, it's over and done with, but it feels good, and maybe just maybe somewhere deep down they will think about their fuckup, usually not though, but there is always the chance

yea same reason why people start facebook groups like "chad is a dickhole"

perhaps a facebook group in her honor for some good ol' e-venting. at the very least, it'll bring awareness to the situation when people see you joined a facebook group called "caranda is a stupid cunt".

How about "Doris A. Caranda can kill someone and get away with it Fan group".

We can go on to thank her for killing our friend, and because she was under the influence, it makes it all okay. If not better. Sarcastic praise.

But she didn't get away with it. She was convicted and sentenced. If anything, blame the judge for handing down a mild sentence. I don't pity her in the slightest, but I doubt she ever thought to herself, gee, I'm sure glad I killed that guy while drunk driving.

Spite never helps anything. It just leads to more pent up anger, and frustration you take out on other people that don't deserve it. When I get cut off in traffic, or bumped into on the street, I take more satisfaction from letting it go and keeping my cool than flipping out and being unreasonable.

There's no adequate measure of revenge to be gotten here, and you're certainly not helping James or his family by being a petty asshole. A Facebook group? What are you, 12 years old? Pathetic.

fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering

suffering leads to punching a guy in the face for bothering your girlfriend

    10 pounds of weed=25 years

    manslaughter=18 months
    -?

Our judicial system is one of the WORST! Things are backwards, money is mis-funded, and the wrong people hold the power.

Obviously this had been discussed in the court. Those truly motivated parties would have been in the court room during this whole process.
She was both high and drunk.

James was sitting at a red light waiting to turn left and she hit him from behind. He never even saw her coming. It was clearly her fault.

There is a protest scheduled the day of her final hearing. I plan on being there.

She needs to get the Fred Krueger treatment if she doesn't get a harsher sentence.

She won't come back to occupy dreams though.

Copying from my original post on here.... (Also, the helmet thing doesn't enter into it at all. A helmet MAY or MAY NOT have made a difference, it's DOUBTFUL. James had a "closed head injury", no skull fracture at all. Basically he was hit so hard that his brain impacted the inside of his skull. Helmet or not, he was still hit that hard and the outcome would probably have been the same, excluding the fact that the weight of the helmet could have broken his neck as well. No one will ever be certain of the "What if's" And yes, she was absolutely in James's lane of travel, both the eyewitness and the evidence proves that.)

James Short's killer gets 18 months!
The actual trial is Dec. 14th. We received a letter from Judge O'Ferrell stating that he will sentence her to.....
4 years in prison BUT with Judicial release after 18 months and suspend her driver's license for life.

This Judge is the only Judge in Ohio that operates this way, putting forth his sentence BEFORE the trial, before even hearing any testimony, before even hearing any eyewitness account, before anything. I don't know how this is even legal, it certainly doesn't seem ethical.

This woman was drunk by THREE TIMES the legal limit, had a prior DUI, and had weed in the car with her. She's 48 years old, has shown no remorse, doesn't even feel like she did anything wrong. She was forced to go to AA and only shows up to about 10% of the meetings where she sits off to herself texting on her cell phone.

She has between now and Dec. 13th to plead guilty and accept the sentence and not go to trial or, go to trial and possibly be found not guilty and walk away scot free.

This is what they call justice.
    REST IN PEACE, JAMES
