Commit and lead with your damn heels. Watch an old Dustin Latimer section and you'll know what I'm talking about. When I see people lead royales with their toes it makes me wanna throw something.

    DOING IT WRONG.

I wish I had a scan of that pic of Dom Sagona from this old ass England (I think) add in DB. He was doing a back torque on an out ledge and I'm pretty sure was the most commited I've ever seen in a photo. If he would have stuck he probably would have flipped onto his head. Best pic.

I have the issue but I tore that fucking page out and put it right over my bed on the wall so I could stare at the steeze. Don't know what happened to it after I took it down.

So much grumpy-old-man-ness in this thread. I love it

I agree with the "no miszou-farvs/makio-torques" sentiment, but I think miszou-royales(toes pointing back) are just as ugly as soul-royales(toes pointing forwards).

Of course there are always exceptions to any style "rule"; I know a dude who does miszou-royales and miszou-farvs and his skating looks good. But still, I think the "ideal" groove trick people strive for should be done at 90 degrees.

I'm just super biased. Dustin Latimer is textbook imo on this. Mach 10, super low steezed the fuck out back royales. Always so committed that it looks as if he doesn't really balance he just does a gap and fucking glides over his obstacle like he's floating. Always come out fakie or 270 (450 etc). Just makes it look more natural and has proper flow to it.

Exactly. Some people have horrible commitment to tricks. That is what this thread is about.

Edit: I totally agree on this. I think a lot of older skates had grooves that favoured the heels (thrones, salomons, old razors) and this bred a certain style on royales and nugens. Basically, they were harder, but looked better. You can make anything look good in any skate, but I prefer older style grooves for this reason.

You barely see stylish soyales anymore. Anyone notice that?

There is no set way on how to do a trick, there is no rule book for skating. I get what you mean but get over it, people will never ever blade according to your standards.
