They are really good skates but if you just started skating/skating under a year I don't recommend these.

If you want to be a better skater, wait for AT LEAST another year and than consider buying them. These are not skates for beginners.
I would never buy them, I feel like they would be flop-tastic and make me very very angry.

the are one of the best fits on the market. being that the shell adjusts in a few different ways and each foot wrap(shoe) includes a full and half size.
they definitely aren't for beginners as i have lost a few tricks moving to them. they still feel really good on my feet and it will be hard to get me into something else, unless a local lets me try their carbons.
i would go with razors gen boots, classic thrones, or haffey remz for first skates. get something complete for sure as those all come with perfect starter setups.

Great skates for grinding but the way they get floppy so fast reminds me of old k2's or deshis.

Freal, I skate a pair for literally years with the same cuff.
don't start with these skates. you'll get too used to the unsurpassed foot control, the absolute lack of heel lift, the comfort and weight of xsjados that any skate you use after them will suck.
put up with the heel lift of razors or bulkiness of USD for at least a year before you understand why xsjados are ugly but work the best.
haha that was the one thing that was holding strong on your old ones. even the insteps were fine. they just needed new souls, bases, and ratchets.
Nah I have really slim ankles. I know it's not just me cause I know several people who have the same problem and various people have tried to fix it. The god damn wings on the tongue come untucked every few minutes. I've tried different Velcro setups and even tried a double tongue, nothing seems to work for me. Trust me, if I could fix that I'd ride them in a minute. They're incredibly comfortable and grinds lock like nothing in them.
Wouldn't recommend remz because they are also non-beginner skates, especially haffey ones that already have v-cut cuff.
Stay on your SK valo's until you get a lot better at skating, but if you really want to buy new skates I would suggest any Razors SL's, any USD (classic)thrones, nimh's, etc.
Get the skeletons and get some swanky new xsjado shoes for them and you'll love them. I just put mine back together today and I'm never going back to anything else.
Can anyone comment on the difference between the salomon made xsadjos and the Usd made ones? I loved the salomon made ones, and just ordered the Damien 2s, and they just feel different to me. Feels like less flex and smaller footwraps when I bought the same size. It could just be that I haven't skated in 3 years and need to re adjust.

i am sure there is a difference in plastic. the ratchet straps are thinner and buckle sideways on mine. i actually cannot release them when i make them really tight and have to unscrew the instep to take them off. the footwraps are about a half size smaller. the the strap quality is there now with the newer ones, but i still use salomon toe straps because the UFS bolt cutout is wrong and it makes the soul plate fit wrong. i saw someone mention that the velcro was actually better and that is true, but i still use salomon upper straps, just because i have them.
i didn't skate the first few from the conference, but i hear there have been vast improvements since then. gotta give it up to them for keeping the boot alive. but they really need to fix that ratchet strap problem, or i need to get a drill so i can pull the ones off my old farmers haha.
yah i have been blading for 3 years now and used to skate remz. Are they more floppy than remz?
