I have often toyed with the idea of getting a bimmer. seems like a bike that would suit me, if I rode.

http://www.triumph675.net/forum/showthread.php?t=40391 Saw that on another forum.

I just renewed my motorcycle permit so I can start riding and get my license. Hoping to have a bike before it gets to cold too use it. Would love a new Gladius but a used SV650 is more likely. I've got a feeling though that I'll end up with an old KZ.

@ Chen, did you make that bike yourself? I've seen a few bikes around here that totally look like kit bikes, but I know nothing about that shit. And I want to get into it. What's the deal? Also I looked at your seat and imagined falling back on the seat and getting my asshole/balls ripped off by that unguarded tire haha

It's all custom, you buy an old or new bike and start chopping off shit you don't want until your satisfied.

Fuck that's cool man, so is that a new frame? Looks like you ditched your back shocks, how does it ride without those?

You can get a new frame built for your specs, or just have someone cut your stock frame and make a custom hard tail for it. Thats what I ended up doing.

Lots of work planned for mine:
    CBR 600 F2/GSXR 600 Front end
    VFR 800 rear wheel
    Underslung/left exit stubby exhaust
650/700 engine conversion (lifted out of a Hawk GT 650 or an Africa Twin)
    Tail tidy
    Full respray
    Braided brake hoses
    Pod filters
    Re-jet
Complete strip down and rebuild, including:
    - Replacing all seals, filters
    - Polishing of all alu parts
    - Engine Powdercoating
    Powdercoating wheels
    Penske fully adjustable rear shock

Pretty much want it looking a little bit like this:

No idea when I'll get around to all that though.
That's pretty bad ass! I love the streetfighters!!!

    American or Japanese?

For Honda I'd look for any CB750 before 1980. SOHC
    CB450, 550, 650, 750

Kawasaki has a new W650 out I think it's a 850 classic styling with two cylinders
    KZ400, 650, 750T

Yamaha XS650 is oftened chopped and has really good aftermarket support

For American I'd go with something like an Ironhead and stay away from the newer Sporties.

I'll try to chime in more when I'm on my computer and not my phone
