    Default Xsjado mod question

Has anyone that rides xsjados cut down their cuffs any? I was thinking about cutting off the tops of the "bamboo" pieces right above the straps maybe giving it a little v cut as well. has anyone done something like this? recommended? stay away?

How old are your xsjados? Those cuffs will break in.

i bend my knees plenty it just feels like they don't have enough rotational movement in the ankle...don't really know how else to explain it

you can lower the cuff padding about half an inch, just take off the strap and you will see another set of threaded holes for the bolts

have you adjusted the cuff padding and straps? try all those different settings before cutting, if xsjados don't have enough flex for you maybe you have other things going on?

Yeah, I have my wilsons lowered all the way, to the point where I only have one bolt holding the instep loop in place. But the material on the outside of the cuff padding against the inside of the cuff actually makes them much more rigid. A pleasant surprise as the salomon made cuff padding would slide around.

yeah you guys are right mostly but since I have like two extra sets of cuffs laying around one will go to science. I shall report back later with the results.

I used to v-cut every pair of Xsjados I owned. Definitely helped with jumping since I could whip(?) my feet up with no restriction. I'm skating the Conference version of Xsjados and I'm gonna wait till they break in a bit more. Salomon produced Xsjados felt a lot better. I have so much heel lift in the new ones it sucks.

the thing i really don't get about v cut, besides it adding side flex, is if you actually stand there and try to touch the back of your leg to the cuff it is nearly impossible to put very much pressure there at all before you start to fall backwards. and that is at a stand still. i have nimhs with the pointed cuff in the back with remz liners that are v-cut, and have no pad in the back where it is cut, and my calves NEVER touch the hard point of the cuff.

I cut down the tops an inch and lowered all the straps/padding (Drilled new holes, had them an inch lower than the lowest stock setting) as well when I had my xsjados.
Worked well (not really much different, actually.) The cuffs (and the velcro straps) break in and get kinda floppy after a while, so I wouldn't v-cut the cuffs. Sure, you get more backward movement, but you make it a lot easier for your cuffs to wear out.

I actually found that the cuffs feel flexier if you put the padding all the way up and the velcro strap all the way down, the higher padding gives your leg a little more leverage when leaning over
