Thread: SuperLight Backslide Plate Question

  1. #1

    Default SuperLight Backslide Plate Question

I remember when they first came out one of the marketing points was the "sticky" bs plate behind the replaceable one. I'm simply wondering if anyone has experience skating with this bs plate or if there are any edits with people skating that way.

    Thanks.

It wasn't supposed to be sticky or anything, they just used a really shitty plastic on both the external and internal backslides on the older SLs and it was super fucking slow and flimsy. The inner backslide on the Horns (and probably all of them since the A3s) looks nothing like it used to, and is a lot stronger. Its still a good backslide plate, it works better for people who dont like how you dont even have to bend your ankle to get into the outer plate. so if you like sitting super low on your shit, use the inner plate, if you like pivoting out of h block tricks all the time, the outer one is a lot better.

Have you used it personally or seen any edits where it is used? And if I recall correctly the inner bs plate was said to be "sticky" like old school shell plastic for a "slow and controlled grind."

Yeah I used it when I had the first SLs and it felt pretty damn good, but it slid so bad that I put the outside plate back on in like 5 minutes. I didnt remember them saying it was supposed to be sticky, but maybe they did. either way it didnt work out very well haha, the new ones are made of a much harder plastic and have a lot more reinforcement to stop them from flexing.

The angle of the built-in "plate" is better, the plastic of the removable BSP is faster. You can choose stand-up angle but slides well, or better angle but slides slower.

What Razors should do is take the built-in "plate" out of the mold, leaving a hole in the boot, and re-shape the BSP so it sits in/on that hole, and its groove is in the same position/angle as the built-in plate is.

So are you guys saying that if I take out the bs plate in my SL razors, I could still skate them? I replaced them before, and I looked at them... they look like ... they would cave in within 1 ledge session. It doesn't look like it was meant to be skated. Is the mold any different from the 2nd aragon?

I pretty much ruled razors out immediately after I bought my first pair of aragon 2's. I stood in royale position on a table and the bs angle killed it for me. Sent them back the next day. I don't understand why they didn't just keep the genesys sole kit for the new sl boot.

Have you taken an SL apart before? The soulplate is the bottom of the boot. You couldn't just slap any old soulplate on there.

Maybe because it would defeat the purpose of making an entirely new skate?
    Tits.
