Thread: Remz Strap on KRBNZ

    Default Remz Strap on KRBNZ

Someone did it and posted about it somewhere. How easy was it to do and how is it working out for you?

Who else is thinking of doing this mod?

    it would be easy
    theyre just buckle screws
i think it would be too loose and unsupportive
the stock buckle is too weak imo.
i was gonna use a strong salomon buckle

joey, this is josh. i've had my carbons for over a month now and have remz-strapped them, it works perfectly but you need to shorten the straps because the carbon's cuffs are much narrower than remz. i also did some other stuff like shorten the baseplates, as they are made for the 7/8/9 and my carbons are 7's.

the real reason i made this message - my disboard account is 'disabled', fix that shit for me so i can get in on the discussions already. just phone me if you can't figure out how to do it, i know you suck at the interwebs.

Josh, your account is enabled. It took me a while to figure out of course...

I want to hear all about your carbons... If you got the ones with "the wrong glue" and about shortening the Remz strap on them. Also it would make sense to ask you if you like them. I hope you like them.

joey, i am totally in love with my carbons, i was in a bit of a rut with my xsjados and have a new found love of the blading. they are so fucking light and easy to tweak out airs/coming in and out of grinds because of the low cuff (way lower than remz), and the toe point is off the hook.

as for having the wrong glue, absolutely not... the first thing i did with these skates was put them underwater for about 3 minutes haha. the day i got them we went to confederation and the first thing i did after strapping them on (literally, i had not even done a trick yet) was skate over to the bowl fakie to drop in, only it was full of 3 feet of water haha and i dropped in cause i was going so fast. then mason and some skateboarder had to pull my ass out and i was wet up to my waist. i sessioned soaking wet for a few hours anyways, i think it probably helped break them in and they are no worse for wear.

as for the remz strap, i chopped 2 or 3 inches off the end and just put new holes through the strap for the screws. i'll try to get pics of my setup later.

extra shitty scratched lens iphone pics, to give you an idea... you can see in the 2nd one how far after the velcro switches from soft to scratchy (!) i made the holes.

They feel just fine with the buckle IMO.

I cant even imagine the lack of the support with just a remz strap.

Cuffless Remz have more flex in the cuff than the carbons so the strap would feel really good in my opinion. I like the flex that a strap offers. I like tight laces and middle strap and a looser feel at the top. That's why I want a strap in there.

Thanks for the pictures Josh. Those look like they would feel so good. Any problems with the strap coming undone yet?

How are you enjoying the skates? I trust your opinion more than most. Also how long did the shipping take?

it's not like the fabric flexes or anything, i don't understand why people think fabric offers less support. it's just easier to make micro-adjustments, and putting the skates on was annoying with a buckle because you couldn't get the thing out of the way, so i was always fighting the laces through it

joey: no problems with any straps, and i love the skates. going to jam with everyone in them at railside right now, infact. it's dustin's last day in town.

Micro-adjustments are the shit. And fabric doesn't dig into your shin. Most skates should have a buckle on the instep and a strap on the top. Xsjado, RB and most racing skates feel so damn good because of this.

Josh hopefully your session was fun. Did you get the UPS standard shipping on the skates? I'm thinking it will take a few weeks. I'm pretty excited about this skate. I just hope replacement souls become available if I really like them.

i took mine off a pair of retired 0702's laying around my closet, i'm sure amall or someone sells them though.

joey, my shipping was the standard one... they left grindhouse on monday and arrived at my door noon friday. so less than 5 days. since you're not in a major city i would expect to wait a bit longer, but nowhere near 3 weeks

If you can't find remz straps try looking for ski boot top strap, a lot of boots have a them. I took one off some old ski boots and put it on my skates.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a Remz strap, a Deshi instep strap would work, or a Xsjado toe strap, or an instep strap off an OS Remz.

you could also easily make one with velcro and nylon straps from a craft store

Whats nice about the remz strap is that the holes and bolts line up perfectly it takes about 3 min to swap them both. To me it feels the same with the buckle or the strap. So i just put buckle back on.

its got holes and metal things on the middle of it where it goes under the soul plate

xsjado straps are also too thick to fit through the loop on the deshi tongue

remz also wont fit through that loop unless you remove that fancy leather thing on the end

its nice to have the strap go through the loop so it stops the tongue from shifting

i just put my laces through the tongue before i go through the top eyelets, it stops the tongue shifting better than the buckle did imo.
