Default My little Kaltiks review + skating with my girlfriend (edit)

I've been skating my new kaltik team frames for 2 weeks now, with 59mm wheels, so here are some impressions about them :

(just note that I skate flat for 4-5 years now, but with 56mm wheels max)

    - When I mounted them , I didn't use the provided axles, because i've heard that they were not fantastic , so I used Salomon axles instead.
So I can't tell anything about Kaltik axles, but I have to say that I really enjoyed the frame spacers, they work fine. (I know it's a detail, but details are important !)

    - I was a bit disappointed by the first minutes on them : I've been used to Salomon Ufs frames and Fiziks frames, and they felt really more solid than the Kaltiks, at least at first sight. I think this overall impression can be improved.

    - I was also a bit scared by the plastic, which seems to be a bit soft when you touch it, and by the little logo on the side , made of a plastic that stick when you pass your finger on it . But finally, they slide pretty well on topsides.

    - Now talking about the most important innovation on these frames, the groove :
as i said before, i've been skating flat for quite a long time. and i know that if you're doing your tricks correctly, every trick is possible in flat. It's mostly mental.
For example, I was already able to do unitys with my salomons frames,... but not on 59mm wheels !
And I have to admit that I felt way more confident with the Kaltiks. So now I don't hesitate to go on grinds really faster, which is really pleasant.
Nevertheless , there's one thing that annoys me about this groove: what's the interest of making it so deep ? I'm sure it would have been great, even better , if it was less deep when the frames are new. We have the time to dig it !

That's it for the moment , if you have questions, ask !

Here are also some pictures of the frames after 2 weeks of use (mostly in concrete skatepark) :

And a little edit of our holidays with my Fiancée, she is learning really quick , she has been something like 20 times on skates :

Ps: sorry if my engrish is not perfect , that's my first wall of text on Be-mag , I've done my best !

That was great, you look very happy good review thanks- I also wondered why they would make the groove so deep to begin with.

    Nice

    Your engrish wasn't so bad.

I love kids. They're short, highly emotional people who don't know anything. They rely on their creativity and imagination to get by in the world. A world, I might add, filled with giants. Amazing feat.

I'm not only wondering why they'd make the groove so deep but also why they'd make the sides so much of a concave. I know, it's because soul tricks slide faster, but on a flat frame I expect the parts near the wheels to be much more "solid". More material needs to go there for the second generation. They can also keep the concave to the sides, but not around the groove, please...

Respect. That park looks like a ton of fun. What did you say to your chick to get her to start rolling with you?

I bought her a pair of skates without asking, and then ask really often if she wants to come to sessions ! She finaly said yes, thinking that playing a sport wouldn't be a bad thing. And now, she enjoys it, especially rolling on quarters and take some speed.

the kaltik axles already got improved.
just make sure you get the black axles and not the silver ones.
i personally didn't like the frame spacers very much because they don't fit perfectly.
but apart from that they seem to be alright.
the groove, the material and the concave stuff i don't care much about for now, i'm just happy to roll 59mm flat and fly more than grind.
i've only used mine once so far but i plan on skating kaltiks for a long time.

+ rep for the cozmo set-up, your girl, dat park and your blading!

+ rep for skating salomon with no mod and kaltik flat with 59mm..
    I ve been skating mine for 6 months with 58 uc (never roll flat before) and the transition from anti rocker to flat was difficult. After a month of skating flat I think it was the best decision I ve made;
    Where is that park Laguigne???

Nothing special. I guess it's because I like dragons: it is a drawing of a dragon in a tribal way. I did it over 10 years ago and still like it.

The groove is actually not even as deep as CO if you take away the wheel wells.

I didn't notice this at first, but you're right. And it explain my bad overall feeling at the beginning .
In fact, I like the shape they have, I think it allow the wheels to turn at their maximum speed.
But now there is another problem i discovered yesterday :
I've lost a screw while i was rolling , and I think that the bad fitting of the spacer is the cause.
And the landing was painfull :
