Well it's the end for my carbon 2s and I thought is would about the insides and how it all works / worked..
First off to explain a little about the construction.
It's a little hard to explain but I'll do my best from the ground up.
The shell is carbon fiber as we all know. basically there is a 1cm wall around both sides of your foot and toes, and then this extends up the leg. Nothing fancy.
cuff bolt receptor
A 1mm thick high density foam layer is glued on the base to cover the UFS receptors.
Then there is the liner which is glued to the foam below.
The liner is very thin on the base and sides for the entire front half.
(If you would like to know what it looks like, just pull your footbed and shock absorber out and you can see it.) Looks like grey suede.
The back half looks like 4mm neoprene.
so for the first 2cm from the base is just 4mm neoprene but then it starts to puff out on the inside and we get our padding ankle which i wont talk about.
On the inside of the above is the inner material, in my case black smooth mesh like material.
(covering our "grey suede" at the toe and our padding at the rear)
The outside front half of the liner (grey suede) is then covered in 1mm thick foam and then the outer you can see "leather". That is all. Not much around the front half of your foot is it.
The outside of the rear (neoprene) touches the carbon shell and then the outer you can see covers that.

THE FOLLOWING IS NOT A HOW TO!
IF YOU TRY IT AND FUCK UP YOUR SHIT.
DON'T BLAME ME!
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.
DO NOT RUN WITH SCISSORS.
You do not need to cut anything to remove all of this.
It all comes out in one piece if you are patient.
Apply heat from a heat gun or hair dryer and slowly peal it back. You don't need much heat!
The leather will come off easy but the other stuff "looks like regular trimming vinyl" sticks like shit to a blanket so be careful not to separate the spongy backing from the top surface of the "vinyl".
Slowly keep moving everything away from the carbon and eventually it will just let go.
its very much like removing a remz liner. The way the liner goes over the plastic at the back and sides.
They used a TONS of glue to hold all this together so be patient....
Hope this is some value to someone.
