did you put some holes through the liner for the laces?
    very nice ideas...

    UPDATE on the Carbo-Remz.
I took my carbon 3s and the Carbo-Remz to a skate park.
30mins with the Carbo-Remz were magic..
fit was nice, feet didn't hurt, a couple of pressure points from the liner cuff configuration but very comfortable over all.
that remz strap from cuff bolt to cuff bolt is fucking amazing! no heal lift, and i feel like i have a ton more power in my strides.

decided i'd ride the carbon 3s for a comparison.
put them on my feet, stood up and thought ewwwww.....
the fit didn't feel nearly as good as I remembered... much looser.
skated maybe 10 mins and switched back to the Carbo-Remz.

Almost straight away I noticed that there was quite a lot of flex at the front of skate.
    I'm not 100% sure why...
I just can't tell if it's the carbon and soulplate flexing together, the frame flexing over, or my foot being able to turn inside the skate that allows for the flex...
Not sure if its good or not either...
I was a little worried about it so stopped skating them.

    Thoughts???

I'm ordering a new set of souls for the Carbo-Remz and ****perhaps a couple of different liners.
thought i would try the trust and the phoenix... any objections?****
ive gotten used to the low ass v-cut the carbons have and need that... but really liked the high walls the rollerblade cuff have so perhaps i need to make something....
I know i need to try a different liner and cuff combo so maybe that will help.

I'll skate them again this Sunday but ill be making some minor adjustments.
ill add some laces to the rollerblade liner and also bolt it down using the UFS mounts.
I also have a Jug liner from some OS remz that i will bolt to the Carbo-Remz and try...

edit: **** going to mod the rollerblade liners..
attach the Carbon tongue and add laces... lol

no, i didnt really need to. the slits you see in the liner are from the elastic strap that held the remz liner tongue.

Nicely done! I also use an arch support as a heel pad. Works so much better.

I'm am almost sure I want to do this. The pain on the outside of my foot is no bueno anymore. Just gotta figure out what liners. Thinking phoenix or Spec Ops but i have to figure out size. I have a 7 SK carbon 2. Plan on gutting entirely, removing inner padding, adding a liner, and putting the SK skin on again. Price is driving me towards the USD liners. If those do have a substancial built in shock absorber, i'll just use my SWS gel ones which are thin, or make a thinner one. Or, built in just means harder to remove.

Anything I should know to keep the skin mostly intact, or will some things have to be cut?

The skin CAN be removed without cutting.
It will take a lot of patience! and a hair dryer.
once it is removed you can attack from the underside and any cut you make will not be seen.

if you can wait a few weeks I'll do it with some phoenix liners and take a shit load of pix.

I did this all without removing the skins:

Very time consuming and tedious but easier than trying to glue them back on.

would love to see the inside of those..
like where you made the cuts to separate the inner from outer.

i think i'll try without removing the skin. any tricks? but i'll wait to see what pysfron does. i'm going to look at some stuff and see if i can make any good additions.

actually i'm considering the spec ops liners still. I feel like the wrap would provide less support then a tongue like on a normal liner. maybe not though. i don't know. Also if they really are that small, i feel like i might be better with a 6 shell and not a 7. hence why i was going tuo use phoenix, although those look like upgraded sifika liners. i.e. skinny as well.

have to say a little of both...

    1. I don't really want to gut my carbon 3s until the toe completely wears out. (thought it would go this weekend but it didn't)
    2. package hasn't arrived yet.
    3. Old man arrives here today for a 5 day visit. (haven't seen him in like a year and a half.)

once that's all taken care of ill be right on it.

Here's my final version after repairing the vertical forefoot cracks on the shell, adding a ankle strap and re-heatmolding for the all the changes. They fit and skate really well now. I'm putting my xsjado cuff straps back on since straps are way better and don't dig. Ya dig.

Justin, do you know if on carbon 2's you can use a heat gun or hairdryer/whatever to heat just a small section through the skin without damaging the skin or anything? ive just got a single small pressure point and cant heat mould in an oven because one of the cuff bolt receivers just spins, and i dont want to resort to cutting anything unless i have no other choice.

I'm not Justin, but yes this can be done. be careful if you are using a heat gun.
if you get it too hot the skin will bubble and melt.
a hair dryer is safer but slower.

    thanks,

yeah thats what i was worried about doing using a heat gun. i think i'll try with a hairdryer and just go slow.

if you classify yourself as a moron then use the hairdryer as a precaution..
if you are a fully able man then you should be fine with the heat gun.

justin has been guiding me a lot through the process, but it's not too hard if you're familiar with hand tools and building things. i stripped a pair of size 9 carbon 1s down to the shell, and i'm building them up from there. the main parts i just scrounged up really cheap, as i'm currently broke as fuck. a pair of newish size 10 haffey liners, some size 8 trs tresder skins, and some nimh cuffs that i'm gonna cut to match the liners. i'm gonna tighten up the toes and heels on the skin, but it all feels good on my foot for now, i haven't skated them yet. all that shit is easily changed out anyways. i have white carbon souls for now, but i want to get some black vii souls as soon as i get some cash.

my only real question is about the cuff going over that clear plastic piece on the tresder skins. is that ok for the cuff?
and what do you guys think about the area where the cuff meets the skin, that gap? it doesn't really bother me too much, i'll probably just roll with it for now. the skins are so damn cheap, you can't go wrong.
