I listen to a load of Martial Arts talk on podcasts and yoga/meditation from shit like the JRE. I dont participate in either of them though haha, yoga and meditation; not really my gig. The Muay Thai camps in Thailand would be awesome, you go for like 3-6 months I think and just train Muay Thai all day, every day...a guy I worked with over the summer has been and loved it.

Good segment on yoga, skip to 1:00.

P.s. Charlie check out all the folders of lectures and shit on the right hand side of this Youtube accounts channel; there's some fucking KNOWLEDGE in there. Follows down the yoga route a little with the spirituality.

I worked with a girl who did this in Manchester when we were on a 3 day photo jobby, she was bright fucking red at dinner which is obviously how we got into a conversation about this. Apparently if you pass out they just leave you on the floor, if you get taken outside into the cool air you might have a heart attack; the Don Corleon of that Bikram yoga school is apparently some millionaire cunt now. Looks sweet, do you find that doing rock climbing gets you into a similar head space as yoga? Obviously not completely but I always thought rock climbing could get you in the zone for a long period of time that say doing a royale on a rail can't.

I honestly don't know what kind of zone I'm in during hot yoga. It's some form of torment right now. but I'm late to class. I gotta go. I'll write up a whole thin about it in a bit.

I practice bikram. It's like a moving mediation.

Once you get into the practice and you know the poses and transitions it really improves everything. It gives me energy, improves my posture, helps me sleep. I've lost body mass. It's really amazing.

has anybody ever tried this stuff?

its like multivitamins for your brain. i found out about it through joe rogans podcasts. being bi-polar, im really interested to see what kind of effects it will have on me, or not.

you can read more about it here www.onnit.com
the chemistry and expected results are all there.

people have even reported having lucid dreams when taking it before bed

    Taking unsrs topic srs:

You can think of both yoga and meditation as exercises that focus on things useful for skating. Yoga exercises flexibility and balance while meditation (which is a part of traditional yogic exercises as well) exercises focus/awareness and clarity of mind. Developing these qualities is sure to help your skating in every way.

Yoga also straighten out your muscles in your core and back. This is key to a healthy body. You have knots and twists in your shoulders, neck and back from daily shit like typing at a desk job all day, or working manual labor. This relieves a great amount of pain. Every athlete who participates in yoga, whether it be boxing, or triathlon has seen a improvement in their sport beacuse of yoga.

It's not about the stretching either. It's about hte compression of your body. Cutting off circulation in certain parts of your core will help flush away the build up of toxins and other shit that are in your blood. Your skin is the largest organ on your body, and keeping that shit compressed, and decompressing it will really do a lot for you. It relieves stress, regulates your eating habits, and exercises your metabolisms. Also after every pose you are suppose to go back to your natural position, and you are suppose to go from a intense pose to a complete relax pose. you're suppose to keep your eyes open and stay in your head. Focus on staying in your body and relax that way. once you learned to control your body to relax after something as intense as that, you can sleep better, calm down under most situations, and perform better in anything you do.

So I say yoga is a win. Plus there are always hot bitches in yoga pants who go there. just sayin'

My friends girlfriend tried it and liked it, which led to my friend trying it and also verifying that it had effects. I trust him, he said he had crazy lucid dreams.

BUT, amongst the best way to induce lucid dreaming is to think about lucid dreaming before going to sleep, or to nap - wake up - think/read about lucid dreaming - and go back to sleep. I feel that the lucid dreaming aspect of alpha brain could be horse shit based on that fact, but I could also be wrong.

im not so worried about the lucid dreaming aspect. ya sure, that would be cool to control your dreams. but im more interested in balancing my brain out. i really, REALLY need to get my bipolarness under control, and dont have the money to talk to a therapist once a week and i dont believe in anti-depressants. idk if alpha brain is the answer, but based on the claims and the research, as well as the chemical compounds that are readily available, im willing to try it.

the way it is described, it would seem to have the same mental effects as meditation or yoga. i havent been able to effectively calm my mind enough for traditional meditation, and dont have the motivation for yoga classes, so this is where im at. im really interested to see if it has any positive effects

dude. getting in the zone while climbing is a great feeling. you can also fuck it up with 2 seconds of panic. on saturday i was climbing over a little roof/overhang and fell well above my last clip because i broke concentration and didn't look for somewhere to put my foot and position my body correctly. falling is a glorious feeling though.

here some background on that stuff, they call it 'smarts' haha
i have no real say on therapy besides what it did for my depression when i was younger, now i strongly believe therapy has such an advantage over medication of any sort. i took add medication for about three years while doing therapy and it wasn't until after i finished therapy and had my own personal realization about everything in my life was i able to stop taking meds. just trying to say medication only takes you away from what you can't handle.

dont really see what your point is skippy. i know for a fact that therapy works for me, without meds. you are right though, meds only mask your problems, they dont let you deal with them. im very against pharmaceuticals in the traditional sense. however, the alpha brain is a supplement to increase cognitive ability, therefore hopefully, giving me the brain power to work on my issues by myself. bringing me out of my hazy, angry state so that i can think clearly again to attack the problem at its root. or if nothing else, just stop getting so fucking mad over nothing. im not saying its a cure, only a stepping stone.
