    Buy a PC, problem solved.
How many skateboarders does it take to change a lightbulb? One, but it'll take him 100 tries.

I'm going to assume you're using DSLR footage...

You cannot edit raw h.264 DSLR footage in Final Cut Pro (except for FCPX). It will import fine, but you get playback issues like your black playback.

Use a program like MPEG Streamclip (http://www.squared5.com/) to convert the footage. Most common codec for FCP is "Apple Prores 422".

Then you should be good to go. If you've already edited, convert your footage in the same file structure and "reconnect" to the converted stuff.

the footage was fine in editing then all the sudden went black and it was almost done so i dont want to have to re edit it

also if your prefrences are right you dont need to use mpeg stream clip for dslr footage idk what im about to do to be honest nothing is working

alt/option+r, command/apple r will only render so much, alt/option+r will render everything letting u watch ur edit with no lagging or anything. if that doesnt work, drink till it does.

Because he's not a cinematography major?

I love kids. They're short, highly emotional people who don't know anything. They rely on their creativity and imagination to get by in the world. A world, I might add, filled with giants. Amazing feat.

I get calls on this all the time. You probably pushed "W" at some point, and it turned your viewer into wireframe mode. All you have to do is push W once or twice and itll go back.

If you can't figure out that it's on wire frame mode, you might want to reconsider editing for a living. Also ur cool tip of th day, apple w will close a finder window, so if u have 5 of them open, instead of clicking all 5, apple w dem bitches.

kmedia is correct. pretty dumb making a post about needing help...someone (credible) gives it to you...then you tell them they're wrong. don't be lazy, if you had converted it before you started chopping, you wouldn't have this problem.

and reading a whole reply instead of sluffing it off as advice that doesn't work would help you a bit too.
