You can't say there's no 'topside' on rails. Outspin 360 TOPsoul is so much harder than outspin 360 soul. And what are you going to call a TTS an allyoop soul or something?
I just got the strangest feeling of Déjà vu. Weird
bazodazo and Espen rules all
It's ao unity because it's like a AO porn but with a unity. duh
I dedicated a page on my WordPress to trying to figure it out and define a good set of rules for myself if anything.
This can be found here if anyone is interested.
If not that's cool coz I can just paste it below now
The 5 Rotation Rules
I have noticed recently that there is still some confusion about the way things are named in regards to rollerblading. Most of the confusion is in regards to rotation onto grinds from a forwards and fakie(backwards) stance. I noticed a few weeks back that people had some very strange ways of looking at rollerblading and it pushed me to make sense of it. One friend was certain that Inspin/Outspin (rotating onto a trick from a fakie stance) only applied if the skater was landing on a forwards facing grind which naturally causes more trouble as a new term was circulated to represent that single rotation between the Inspin/Outspin 180 and the Inspin/Outspin 540. This new term was known as Fullcab or just Cab and it literally means Inspin/Outspin 360 so as you can imagine there is really no need for it as Rules for Inspin/Outspin grinds already exist.
What are these rules?
- Alleyoop – Forward approach, spinning more than 90 degrees into the trick.
- Truespin – Forward approach, spinning more than 90 degrees away from the trick.
- Inspin – Fakie approach, spinning more than 90 degrees into the trick.
- Outspin – Fakie approach, spinning more than 90 degrees away from the trick.
- Zerospin – Fakie approach, with no more than a 90 degree spin.
All of this is based on the principal that landing forwards or backwards on the grind is irrelevant when a Rotation Rule like Inspin or Alleyoop is referenced in the trick name along with a rotation amount (180,360,540,720).
Here are some examples
An Alleyoop 180 Soul implies a forwards approach with a 180 degree spin into the trick landing in a backwards soul and an Alleyoop 360 Soul implies a forwards approach with a 360 degree rotation into the trick landing in a forwards soul.
Here is a more advanced example
An Outspin 360 Topsoul, also referred to as the infamous Fullcab Truespin Topsoul implies a backwards approach with a 360 degree spin away from the trick landing in a backwards topsoul.
That means that something simple like a Mizou requires no Rotation Rule as there is no rotation.
Some tricks however like Fakie Back Royale have at the very most a 90 degree rotation but the Inspin/Outspin Rule requires the rotation to be over 90 degrees and so a Fakie Back Royale is therefor a Zerospin Back Royale.
I'm going to explain the rotation directions now
Some people still have trouble visualising which way is which when it comes to figuring out some of the Rotation Rules but please make sure you try to read it slowly and carefully as it can be confusing sometimes.
**This part is written with the ledge on the LEFT so just swap the CW & CCW references for a RIGHT hand ledge**
CW = Clockwise
CCW = Counter Clockwise
First we shall look at Alleyoop/Truespin. The Ledge is on the LEFT of you and your approaching it forwards. Spinning CCW onto a grind is Alleyoop and spinning CW onto a grind is Truespin.
Now lets look at Inspin/Outspin. The ledge is still on the LEFT but now your approaching it fakie. Spinning CCW onto a grind is Inspin and spinning CW onto a grind is Outspin.
I hope that has covered everything.
Unity or Savannah?
Again this one is very simple and I hear it getting messed up all too often when a Rotation Rule is applied before the trick. Unity and Savannah will always be the same trick regardless of the rotation into the trick because the tricks alone are very different but easy to distinguish. If your Front Foot is leading it’s a Unity and if your Back Foot is leading then its a Savannah.

I don't even know who I am anymore.
soon.
Everything would be solved if we just labeled our spins left & right.
didnt read any of this thread, just wondering - has everyone agreed on a system yet?
I believe my system works.

i look at it as
alleyoop = outspin
truespin = inspin
because think about when you go to do a 360 soul spinning into the object once you are at 180 degrees during your spin the rest of the spin would be like and outspin soul. In fact usually do outspin soul first because its the last turn of a 360 soul into a object. its the same way with a 360 soul spinning away from an object the last 180 degrees of you spin would just be like a inspin soul. it also works this way with fullcab or fakie 360 tricks the first part of a fullcab truespin soul would be just like doing a inspin soul and then the last 180 degrees of the spin would just be like truespin.
Is it really important to have a system like this? Last time I checked rollerblading is a visual art. Like most art it is really only fully enjoyed by people that understand it. Even if I call souls sometime different every other blader watching will still understand what I'm doing. Rollerblading hardly ever gets coveyed by words to the masses anyway its just small coversations between friends and they know what each other means so what does it matter?
So if you spin Ao to a unity on a square rail, is it a AO unity, and if it's on a ledge it's a savanah?
This is correct except for one thing. Alleyoop only refers forward 180s into the grind in the direction of the ledge. Unless truespin/inspin/outspin is said then the direction of the spin is always assumed as towards the ledge from forward. When you see a picture and it says 360 soul you know he spun towards the object starting from forward.
PS It's a savanah.
