Thread: THE OFFICIAL NHL THREAD

Yes I know that the Flyers have been shaky, too shaky. Sentimental pick on my part; just based on the 24/7 series, I like them way more than the Rangers. Bryzgalov is fucking hilarious but maybe not focused or mentally strong enough, but what do I know. Shit's unpredictable though...so much depends on injuries and which goalies are hot...Miller once made it rain, now he's pooping the bed. Sens were supposed to be near the bottom, now Karlsson is making it rain out of nowhere

The Flyers are way behind the Rangers right now and have lost all 3 times they met this season.

its gunna be hard to touch the rangers this year if lundquist keeps playing so lights out. regardless if they have that chode avery. dude is nothing but a distraction to a team, that if remains focused, has a chance to go deep into the playoffs.

hopefully malkin and neal will keep it going and fleury gets hot at the right time. go guins

Lundqvist is incredible, him and Tim Thomas are the 2 best goalies in the league. I dont think Avery is a distraction to the team though. If anything ive noticed a slight decrease in them since they sent him down. He definitely goes over the top sometimes but he is so fucking good at pissing off other players and getting under their skin. He'd be a huge asset if he would just tone it down a little bit.

Head-to-head records in the regular season are worth cat piss. Playoffs are a different story.Rangers are really strong now but who knows, maybe Lundqvist will get hurt, or cool off, or get AIDS. It's a fucking long season, stuff happens-look at Taylor Hall.

It sucks cause I have to watch all my Ranger games online since I live in Oregon. I considered getting cable but I wouldn't get the MSG network so my only option is pay the $140 or whatever it is for NHL Center Ice on top of the standard cable bill.. It's just not worth that price for me considering the only time I'll watch TV is when Ranger games are on (and Timbers when soccer starts). There is a bar pretty close to my house that has center ice and I do go there occasionally to watch Ranger games but that gets expensive.

Watching the Ranger/Pens game, where you Pens fans at?

    http://www.firstrow.tv/watch/102961/...-penguins.html

Malkin/Neal line is a force to be reckoned with but I don't know if you're gonna be able to keep up with the new Rangers line of Hagelin/Gaborik/Stepan.

    Should be a good game!

holy shit malkin is playing like a beast. and dood I havent seen a game from fleury like that in a while. Dude was standing on his head. Hopefully we keep this momentum going. Huge win for us tonight. Maybe we got over the Crosby hump finally and the team just said fuck it.

can i also mention how sad I was when we decided to trade rupp to you guys. He will score some really clutch goals for you mark my words. One of my favorites dudes to wear the black and gold, and i loved when he shit on Jagr in the winter classic. gold.

Or maybe not. Multiple concussions is pretty serious.

It's only 1/3 of the way through the season guys. Let's sit back and see what happens yet. Vancouver could pull a Packers this year... or a Capitals last year.

vancouver will never win shit as long as they have that chode luongo in the net. choooke artist.
its hard to tell with sid, especially because the information that he and the teams share is so vague. i wish they would try and attempt to give us a timeline for that shit. but i also understand that with head injuries that is kinda unrealistic.

I agree, Vancouver won't even get to the finals this year. A Canadian team will win the Cup again sometime, but I don't think Vancouver will be the next one to do it. Maybe give the Oilers 5 years and a boss goalie? All their draft picks will make it rain eventually.

My beef with the Crosby thing is just that it gets so much coverage. If he meets with another doctor or practices or rides a bike, who fucking cares? Give him media coverage once he's back in the lineup.

Love hockey so god damn much, thank you for this thread. Im just gonna jump in on several started topics...

Flyers goaltending sucks because it's in Philly, Byrz was retarded in Phoenix and he moves to the Flyers and sucks. Sounds like every other goalie they've had since Hextall. The media/fans need to stop jumping down his throat about every bad night he has and maybe he'll start playing well again. But Philly made it to the finals with Leighton and Boucher which is the worst goaltending combination in the entire league, minus maybe anything Columbus has had since the lockout, so that tells you how important goaltending is sometimes.

Bruins are fucking murdering everyone, but Philly did the same thing last year for the first half and then tired out and got destroyed in the playoffs. I feel the same thing could happen to Boston. The difference though, is that Thomas can go superhuman and single handedly win them a cup like he did last year.

And as for Avery, he was not effective at his job like he used to be. Nowadays pests have to be able to play too, and he is hardly a fourth liner in today's NHL. He could fight when needed, but has a bad tendancy of picking on the wrong people and instead killing momentum of the game. Torts does not like tough guys fucking with skill guys, he believes in hard work and playing the game the right way, so I'm surprised Avery didn't get waived much sooner.

Also, go Hawks, and fuck Vancouver

I know concussions are serious but i just feel like their babying Crosby a little too much. Every time he takes a halfway decent hit they take him out again. They are for sure giving it too much media coverage though.

As for Avery, i thought he was playing well. I just started watching hockey again this year so i dont know how he used to play but i thought his game was pretty on point this year. He was definitely not a first liner but i felt he could hold his own on a 3rd or 4th line. He's definitely better than the AHL. His antics get under everyones skin though, Torts included. Not surprised he got sent down, just bummed cause i thought he was hilarious.
