I can't afford new frames and I like grinding so freeskate setups are not really my thing. I mostly skate park/bowl and I want to be able to go really fast but not interfere with grinding much. I was tempted on Kaltics, but I can't afford frames and 8 wheels.
I skate Razors frames (..yeah, I know) on Carbons - will 76mm wheels fit in an anti set-up? Will they fit if I dremel wheel wells?
What would the drawbacks be? Will I notice an increase in speed over 58mm wheels?
I'm on Eulogy Dalnas at the moment - I don't think there is a higher quality wheel on the market right now.
Why would my ankles break? I don;t really do gaps and stuff any more...I just cruise bowls and do some simple ledge/rail grinds. Am I missing something?
The larger the wheels the more difficult is it to balance out a bail. Puts more stress on your knees and ankles. Especially in Deshi Carbons, wether they have a cuff or not.
Hang on...are you suggesting that Eulogy isn't a decent brand? I've only had positive experiences with them, yet my UC wheels lasted about 4 weeks last year.
Did you find 72s too much stress on your knees? I'm just keen to try something a little different - I've been riding 58mm anti for about the last ten years now.
I don't think it will make sense in a bowl. If everything it will make your skating really smooooooottthhhhh... It's tough to getup to speed with those things. I'd prefer a 72mm wheel for street skating though. Oh, and if your bowl is really spacious.
Thanks Monday - they are both new bowls (built in the last year) and they are really well made. Both within a 5-10 minute cycle from my house in Hackney. I was there on my own for hours the other morning.
What wheels would you suggest for something along the lines of 68-72mm?
Alas, I will be driving around the UK in a 9 seat transit van with upwards of 3 other dudes, loading a ton of gear into, and out of venues and showering less than once a day. I take my skates on tour in case we randomly play a venue with a skatepark close by, but it doesn't happen often.
