Default Big wheels on aggressive blades.

So I'm bitten by this big wheel bug.

I can't afford new frames and I like grinding so freeskate setups are not really my thing. I mostly skate park/bowl and I want to be able to go really fast but not interfere with grinding much. I was tempted on Kaltics, but I can't afford frames and 8 wheels.

I skate Razors frames (..yeah, I know) on Carbons - will 76mm wheels fit in an anti set-up? Will they fit if I dremel wheel wells?

What would the drawbacks be? Will I notice an increase in speed over 58mm wheels?

    Thanks!

I've skated 72mm wheels in size M FLT 2's with 4mm deep wheels well. It works. Drawbacks will be your ankles breaking.

I'd rather invest in a good and fast 58mm wheel. Meaning Street Artist or UC.

    Thanks Monday.

I'm on Eulogy Dalnas at the moment - I don't think there is a higher quality wheel on the market right now.

Why would my ankles break? I don;t really do gaps and stuff any more...I just cruise bowls and do some simple ledge/rail grinds. Am I missing something?

    I'd consider 72s as well.

The larger the wheels the more difficult is it to balance out a bail. Puts more stress on your knees and ankles. Especially in Deshi Carbons, wether they have a cuff or not.

Oh, and... Yah, enjoy your Eulogies, bro...

Hang on...are you suggesting that Eulogy isn't a decent brand? I've only had positive experiences with them, yet my UC wheels lasted about 4 weeks last year.

    Whatsupwithdat?

I'd say Eulogy is a far more decent brand than UC. But UC's wheels are much better...

Yeah, I've had problems with them, too. However, the current batch is perfect. STAR's have great quality, too.

Did you find 72s too much stress on your knees? I'm just keen to try something a little different - I've been riding 58mm anti for about the last ten years now.

For bowl cruising, would it matter?

I don't think it will make sense in a bowl. If everything it will make your skating really smooooooottthhhhh... It's tough to getup to speed with those things. I'd prefer a 72mm wheel for street skating though. Oh, and if your bowl is really spacious.

    The bowl is pretty big:

The larger bowl is 6 feet deep, going up to 9 or ten feet in the far corner.

The other bowl is also huge:

Couldn't find a real photo. The deepest bit is fucking massive, almost like a vert.

Thats real pool coping on the bottom right. Its amazing to grind.

before i went back to flat frames, i rode freestyle GCs with 64mm meatz wheels. doesn't feel like flat but still goes pretty fast.

Pool coping is teh bestest. I'd say go for it. But don't get the Hyper Fat Boys from ebay. At least not with the new graphics. They're complete shit.

Also... Didn't know you had such monsters of bowls in the UK. Awesome.

Thanks Monday - they are both new bowls (built in the last year) and they are really well made. Both within a 5-10 minute cycle from my house in Hackney. I was there on my own for hours the other morning.

What wheels would you suggest for something along the lines of 68-72mm?

No idea... I see people are buying Hyper Concretes. But that's mainly because they're widely available. I have no idea if they are good.

Would you exchange floor space for wheel some time around March/April?

Hi Monday. My band is on tour through most of March and some of April - how come you are coming to London?

I'm coming to London to sleep on your floor and eat from your fridge. We can go shred the bowls together, too. Only if you want though.

Alas, I will be driving around the UK in a 9 seat transit van with upwards of 3 other dudes, loading a ton of gear into, and out of venues and showering less than once a day. I take my skates on tour in case we randomly play a venue with a skatepark close by, but it doesn't happen often.

I'm also not very good at blading, at least not these days.
