Use a heat gun for localized pressure point relief.
Will do after the second oven-molding does nothing...
looks like a ski sock.
I have that exact same pressure point that you circled in that sock picture and using different socks never really helped. There's a seam or something in the liner right there I think. I'd go with heat gun maybe.
I think I'll go with moar tissues taped to the foot first but thanks...
Just skated them with comfy socks for an hour, never felt better. The problem is still imminent but overall they feel nice. Like puffy JUGs, lol. I think it really is a seam that bugs me, it's almost like I can feel stitches of nylon cord or something digging into my skin. Might investige more once they've "cooled down". Heat molding for a second time is definitely in order. Damn.
speed skate shells are not made for aggressive skating, no mater what soul plate and cuff is on em.
I have the same exact pressure point as well, and only on my left foot. I compared the inside to my friends carbon 2s, and the only conclusion we could come up with is that that Carbon 3's have another layer of stiching/reinforcement in that area that the 2's dont, causing that awful pressure point.
As for socks, I've always worn socks that are skin tight. I hate it when socks bunch up.
Yup, it's the left for me, too. Only I had a similar pressure point in the Carbon 2's, too. Just not as bad.
I have the same problem. But it is worse in other skates. I've had to take a heat gun to every plastic boot I've ever had and push it out right there. Topsides used to be hell... It's worked pretty well in my Carbons because my skins are removable and I was able to push the area out after heating it up. I used a heat gun and pushed it out with my fingers. I also tried using a skate strap in between my liners and shells. That worked pretty well. You should take something that's at least an 1/8" thick and wrap it right around the knuckle of your foot. You need the shell to be pushed out really far right there just like I do. Mine is almost visible from the outside.
Yeah I tried that. Like I said, I taped tons of tissue paper to my feet for heat molding them. Maybe I should go into the extremes with that. Will have time to work on this on the weekend, will let you guys know how it worked out.
Well the problem with Carbon is that it always wants to revert back to it's normal shape. Kind of like wood.
You need to make sure the boot completely cools before removing it which can actually take a long time when you're wearing it since it holds the heat.
And yes. You need to go to extremes because no matter how much you push it out it will not stay exactly there. It will come back a little bit. So push it out much further than you need to and it should be perfect.
Nah...
not carbon fiber in general. Just a super thin shell with just as thin padding that dies way before the shell.
Deshi Carbons were the best, they had the lining material down right. Didnt wear down as rapidly and never had shit growing out of the sides of my feet in those. Carb 2's, on the other hand, completely rimmed my feet. Now everything feels like shit....
inb4 u mad
Word. I got you. Deshis hurt my heels like crazy... Other than that they were pretty good.
USD Carbon 1s were far worse though! I haven't skated Carbon 2s but I've tried them on. I really dislike the material they use in the heel area. I think Adapt did it right but making the entire interior out of suede. Wish I had $500 for boots...
