Yeah I'm not the biggest fan, I haven't skated at all really lately but if I do end up getting new skates in the future, I will probably go back to the roces shell skates. Unless they make a few changes to the shell, especially in regards to the way the bolts connect.
They're really good in Valos IMO. Since they're such a low skate, I like that I can lace them all the way up and they're really supportive for me.
I tried the Spec Ops at Modern when I was home and when the skate is fully laced along with the liner, the "tongue" would separate when I leaned forward which gave almost zero support. Just not for me.
Does anyone have any recommendations as far as footbeds go for these?
I don't have 8-10 years of experience, so take my comments with scepsis..
I've been out on my new stup only a few short times (due to changing weather).
Bought a Razors Genesys 9 boot one size too small, EU 42, and the SpecOps liner in EU 43, and what a bliss.
Hardly more than a few hours later, the liner has almost settled-in, and it's like actually feeling a pair of skates on my feet.
I do not experience the split tongue issues commented elsewhere on here. It's possible it just works well with the Genesys 9 boot; I can't say..
It should be noted that I've had an inflammation in my right big toe, preventing wearing anything that's pressing down/in on that toe. The G9 boot has ample of toe space, and the SpecOps liner adapts so nice to my foot shape.
My former skate was a Nimh Shima V2, EU 43, and while I do not at all mean to be negative about those otherwise well-made skates, they did feel like wearing a heavy wintherboot with wheels on.
The thick liner felt perfect at first, but I soon had indications it would quickly start to feel pretty sloppy as the thick paddings settled in.
My other skates are Powerslide FSK Cell's, featuring a fairly thin well-fitting (fixed) liner. Just like with my new G9/SpecOps combo, I most definately now has the ide that, at least for me, skates works the best with smaller boots and tight well-shaped liners.

Could these be used to size down a non-Light Valo WITHOUT a toe-cut? I'm a 9.5 in Xsjado footwraps, been playing around with the thought of getting some Valos and NOT have to cut into it.

I have a 10.5 foot. What size liner and salomon shell should I get in order to downsize?
They aren't that great... From what I've experienced in the numerous boots ive skated them in they do not work well in skates with a wide/open top/lace split ie thrones, genesis valo lights ect. They do however work a lot better in skates with narrow tops/lace splits such as SL's, cults m12/non light Valo's ect... The problem is when the liner is laced up tight on ur feet there is too much room even in a downsized skate around the cuff, heel and crease point on the top of the foot below the ankle that no matter how tight you lace the boot the liners lift pretty noticeably in the more open shells which to me makes them unskateable. In the narrow top skates it still lifts but is bearable. Hope this makes sense... I've been drinking ha.

I am skatin the Phoenix liners in my thrones right now and I love them... All except one thing, I don't like the shockpad outsole, it makes my heel too raised.Though I've never liked shockpads in a raised heel skate as I always felt like falling foward, but I am starting to get used to it....
^My feet are 27-27.5cm.
I ride a M shell with 9us Phoenix Atop Liner.
No problems so far.
The Atops are a perfect for me, because I hate the normal lacing system most liners have.
I can tighten the Atops very easy, great system.
EDIT: M Shell Classic Thrones..
What about their shirts?
My feet are around 26.5cm and 10.7cm wide.
While lengthwise my foot is fine in the 8-9 shell width wise is really a pain but after a few sessions with a heat gun it is no problem but also widens the lace split even more.
The biggest problem with "sizing down" which no one discusses or tells you about is is how fat your feet are ankle depth. While Denotenkings feet might be a bit bigger than mine I couldn't even fit in a 9 Phoenix liner width and length were fine but I couldn't even get the tongue to go under the liner to cover my foot, it was too shallow. This goes the same for the 8-9 shell in my case with all the liners I tried on the 8-9 shell my foot never felt like it was all the way in the skate and it was really bad and very unskateable with any sort of heel pad especially with one as thick as the built in one in the Phoenix liner, also my ankle was way to high up on the cuff to provide good support. There are 2 sizes of cuffs and the 8-9 is the last shell size that uses the small cuff... Which is too small...
I have moved up to the 9.5-10.5 shell with a 10 phoenix liner and while it is about a inch and a half too long my foot actually fits into the skate my heel is locked in when i lace them up the liner doesn't move and my ankle is in the right place to provide good support.
^We all have different feet.. so the best option is to try out different shells/liners.
I downsized to an S shell with the Trust, it fitted great length wise.. but my feet where a bit to wide for the S shell.
So I sold them pretty quickly.
Now I'm back skating M shells again (with the Atop system), can skate for hours without any trouble now.
With the Atop liner, you can "click" the liner really tight.. so the liner gets very slim so it will fit perfectly in the Throne shell.
Then you just need to tighten your laces, and they fit/skate great.

my buddy has a pair in his valos and says there is no better liner for the skate, hes been skating valo forever and was looking for an alternative to sock valo liners (which he hates, but put up with)...trust nailed it
