alright, get a prail, then do forntsides, then go from frontsides into royales mid-rail, then jump into royales, then royale

Try starting on something small like a painted curb. The way I learned was to go for a frontside first, then arch my arms over my head for counter balance. Once you get comfortable you can do them with out the arm motion.

um every grind i learn i stall first. stall in royalle position till you're comfy landing on the rail/ledge in royalle position, then give it speed.

The way you're describing it sounds like you're just leaning back and hoping a royal will occur. It won't. Like everyone says, practice on a curb, in shoes, on a prail, in your head etc until you feel really comfortable with it, then do it properly.

Use your knees, not your ankles. Practice stalling it until you're comfortable landing on all three points at once (inside groove on front foot, outside groove and boot groove on back foot)- it's very important to not be landing on only your frame grooves and then tweaking down onto your boot groove. Bend your knees, not your ankles. Don't lean back, that will make your feet immediately slide out from underneath you. Don't let your back foot move forward of your body's centerline. Bend your knees, not your ankles. Wear your skates tight. Get off my lawn.

i do frontsides naturally with my right foot in front, so when i first tried royales i figured i'd approach them the same way. wasn't until a year or two later when i realized that i stopped on ice with my left foot in front.

figure out which way you stop on ice
    royale
    ???

commit......its shitty but you have to....

Think of the trick (they weight balance and your leg positioning) like s steezy soul.....you shouldnt fall out if your royal foot is not directly under you but back a bit...your weight is forward.....

Do it on a ledge...approcah it at about 45 degrees and try jumping into the ledge....as you get confident reduce the angle slowly back to sy 15 degrees........

Always make sure your weight is forward... or you will slip back.....

    Lastly.........stalling is your friend...
