That said, I admit there are really only so many options for cameras if one does not want to go the HD route (and please, no more DSLRs). And, there is also a reason that the VX1 is so widely used in skateboarding. But that explanation wears thinner every year the camera ages.
As far as SD cameras with century lenses, basically, VX series, GL Series, DVX (the best choice by far).
Theoretically, one's logic would go like this: Ok, HD footage is played out (and I agree), let's go back to the basics, and get an SD Camera with a classic death lens. I like the look of the VX1, it's so timeless! I looove that silky smooth home-video esque 60i!
So, disregarding the million drawbacks associated with buying a 17 year old camera, the question becomes why do you treasure the vignetting, warmth, and sound of the VX1 over other options? It's really not something easily quantifiable, and I think that it is a bias on account of skateboarding history.
Long story short, DVX+death is the undisputed champ of rollerblading. I also like the actual video camera that AJ uses and also the camera lens combo that SK and Broskow use.
