What's the fucking point? Can't we just let people decide what to think?

to deliver advertisements, and i think otherwise it would be pretty weird to just have a game on and someone scores or scored a basket then thats it, and they are people also discussing what they think
"I reflected that man is the veriest slave of custom, and that many points in the routine of his existence are deemed essentially important, which are only so at all by his having rendered them habitual"
Well it started out with radio, where you needed commentary obviously. Radio was originally opposed in baseball because they thought it would detract people from coming to the ballpark, but in actuality, it drew in more fans. People were able to keep track of games and follow the actions for free and learn about it in the comfort of their own homes rather than pay to see it.
Naturally, it transferred over to television. Not everyone watching the game is an expert, so people learn from the announcers whether it is basic stuff about the game, reflecting on past situations and how it relates, putting events into a certain context, or pointing out timely and noteworthy statistics that adds to the entertainment and knowledge of the viewer. I think at this point it would be jarring to not have it. How often is there anything on television without any speaking?
wait your tv doesn't have a mute button?
video killed the radio star
There are plenty of reasons, the fact that you can't even think of one reason is so staggering to me, that I am not even going to waste time on you listing the reasons.
A TO THE MUTHA FUCKIN K
Also, you must not know who Don Cherry is.
Remember: "It is better to keep your [hands still] and appear stupid than to [respond] and remove all doubt."
Why is there music in skating videos? I want to decide what to hear.

They make sense for more inexperienced viewers to have a understanding of the players, the teams, and of the technicalities of the sport.
For rollerblading, however, it's retarded. Yep that's a soul grind, I have eyes. Unless of course the announcer knew every single skater's switch/natural vocab by heart. Then that'd be cool.
