Thread: New blader-built spot in Detroit! *EDIT*

  1. #1

Default New blader-built spot in Detroit! *EDIT*

A few weeks ago, a bunch of us got together at the Brewster Projects in Detroit and rearranged some concrete benches in the basketball/tennis court area. About 5hrs of lifting, rub-bricking, sweeping, bondo'ing, waxing and weeding went into making the spot.

About an hour after we finished and were skating, Sam showed up with some killer refreshments!

It's all configured so you can skate around in a circle and hit everything. 1-800 hot-lines all day, dudes!

Here's an edit Chynna just posted of a day sesh featuring the Brewster spot:

With skating from the likes of Luke Naylor, Kurt Kokoschko, Layne Weatherford, Scott Berels, Adam Wright, Chris Gerard, Theo Partin, Joe Hawkey, Kevin Lebeau, Chynna Weierstall and myself.

Come skate Brewster with us, Be-mag!

Just a curiosity, why is it that Bambi is never in these edits? Is it that he doesn't skate when he's in Detroit, that he's away too much or is he just a bit of a lone ranger?
How many skateboarders does it take to change a lightbulb? One, but it'll take him 100 tries.

That was such a fun day. Got to use my new rub brick and jump inside an abandoned building to get the wood used for the a-frame.

do the people that live there not care that a bunch of white kids are hanging out and drinking beer in their hood? in columbus and chicago we used to get threatened all the time for skating in the hood.

Well its not really in the best neighborhood, but as long as you have a decent number of people, you wont get bothered there. At least I think. When we're downtown, in the nicer parts, we're more likely to get yelled at.

    *note*
this was a skateboarder spot and the bladers came thru and str8 revamped it and made it ill. it was just a cpl single benches before and now that its arranged and bricked/waxed, some of the benches have been begun dissapeering lately so i think the s-boarders are pissed we're there but o well hahaha. the whole place is abandoned so getting hassled by residents isnt really an issue. if people did live there they probably would not give a fuck or just make dumb little whiteboy jokes to themselves. the area is deadly dangerous after dark though so its not really a solo sesh spot. mad bums live in those buildings still. mad dope spots in there, pretty rough but this spot fuckin rules. one of my new favs for sure.

I go to UDM and have always wanted to skate that down ledge. Figured public safety would make it a huge bust, but I guess not. Awesome.

After I start getting my groove back from breaking my hand a few months ago and get some good wrist guards, I am going to have to hit this spot with Stoll and some of the other Detroit bladers. I saw this edit and wanted to skate it so bad!
