    Default Car guys help please!

So due to some unforeseen events, driver swapping, road trips, etc... the car I drive has gone 20K miles without an oil change. I know it was last given Valvoline synthetic. It just hit the 40k mile mark (2010 Mazda 3 that was bought new). '

I am going to get an oil change today.

BUT, is there anything else I need to do to my engine to restore it to good health other than an oil change?

    Thanks

Spark plugs- check the gaps in the terminals against the values for your specific engine.
Air filter- check for holes/damage/wear and replace if necessary.
Check your coolant level and make sure you still have plenty of life left on your brake pads.

not necessarily. synthetics are much better than they used to be. for instance, mini coopers are rated to go 15k between oil changes. if your car wasn't driven hard, in an extreme environment, and wasn't losing oil, it's conceivable that the engine wasn't hurt and will do just fine with new oil.

You'll probably need to change your tires or at least have them rotated, depending on the tread life. The stock wheels that come on your car are Bridgestone Turanza EL400. If they are T-rated, you have 80,000 miles on average with regular rotations. If they are H & V-rated, then you only have 50,000 miles on average with regular rotations.

Also, don't forget to have your transgasket differential checked/replaced, the bi-axel manifold removed, the tape deck unjammed and the dashboard clock calibrated. Only costs about $1,200.

I love kids. They're short, highly emotional people who don't know anything. They rely on their creativity and imagination to get by in the world. A world, I might add, filled with giants. Amazing feat.

In regards to the first part, got the new tires a few months back so i should be good on that.

The tape deck is fine thus far, but who knows what will happen this summer when I'm jammin' out to Creedence

Your engine is already relatively new, just make sure you keep up on oil changes, especially your next few. There is a lot of controversy about when an oil change is really necessary, and while 20k is a lot more than you should go, as long as it didnt go low on oil for some reason, dont worry. And as other people said, check all fluids and your air filter.

you are fine man. take her to the jiffy lube and they will have you right as rain. 20,000 is on the brink but there should be no damage unless you notice a physical change in the engine's performance eg the way it sounds or runs. like I say, 30 mins at jiffy and that sweet mazda will be running like its starring in the fast and the furious.

Not fucked in the slightest. Synthetic is good enough that you will be fine.Don't make it a habbit though. A far as other general maintainance, new air filter, new coolant, new brake fluid, and new tranny fluid is what I would do.

Yeah, evidently, my old 1999 Mustang never had the transmission fluid changed until the 117,000 mile mark. I was uneducated, and thankfully nothing happened. I bought it at 48,000 miles. Miracles?
