Default Using pre-paid plans on an iphone 3g?

Ok I want to use an ATT or T-mobile pre paid plan on my iphone 3g. Has or is anyone here doing this with their iphones ? I heard you won't be able to use any data with T-mobiles pre- paid plans but my GF's cousing is doing this but on her iphone 4. She was paying $50 for unlimited talk, text.web so it sounded like a sweet deal. so just wanted to here your guys experience with this before I try it or buy a pre-paid sim card. Thanks

i have an iphone 4 and im using att pre pay service. the 50 unlimited does not provide unlimited web. but i buy a gig and it last all month and thats with plenty of streaming videos and what not. just dont do alot of downloading unless im on wifi.

Did you have to jailbreak it first ?

nope. simply buy the cheapest phone and one of the minute cards of your choice. activate the sim and give all the numbers from the pre pay phone when activating it, but never put the sim into that phone. after the activation is complete you can cut the sim card down to the mini sim size and slap it in the iphone and your good to go. to get the internet to work after buying a data package there is a web site you need to go to to make some changes. it can be found with a quick google search.

i am currently jailbroken now but i wasnt at the time, it works flawlessly before and after. the ONLY thing that will not work is the visual voicemail, youll have to use the standard voicemail.

edit: you only need to cut the sim down to mini sim size for the iphone 4. all previous models use the standard sim card.
