Thread: What skate to get? :)

  1. #1

Daumen hoch What skate to get? :)

I know it's a very open question, but hell, I'm just gonna ask it

I'm a tall guy, 1.90m and weigh 103kg at the moment, I've started inline skating when i was like 6 and did it all the time untill i was ~16, now 4 years later I'm almost 21 and want to start again!

Note that I never grinded or did any tricks, I can skate forward and backwards, and good, but I can't do any tricks :'( Thats why I want to pick it up again and start with some grinds n stuff

Currently I have bought some cheap secondhand Razors Cult-B's which are stiff as f*ck and look like sh!t.

So basicly looking for a skate that not as stiff as the Cults, Must be low weight! Shock absorbers are a plus, but I can get those Jug's anyway. And are better looking than the cults, maybe my opinion, but they are in my top5 ugliest skates ever.
Was thinking about 2 types already, the Genesis9 (white) from razors and the JJ.Light from Valo.

Are these Valo's rly lighter? If i check it, its only like 300grams per boot..
Are the Genesis skates as stiff as the Cults or are these skates from heaven like everybody seems to say

    Anyway, all tips are welcome!

White G9s are sexy, I have had razors they hold up well for sure. Their skates always had alot of cushion in the liners. The light valo boots are the way to go cus the other ones are like cement bricks on your feet. They are solid though as well. Liners arent as comfy.
Honestly, you just have to try shit out and see what works for you, some people after trying Valo will only skate Valo, some commit their rolling lives to razors, you know. You might not really like either, who knows.

i would buy the genesys. it's much better than the cult. the genesys is cheaper than the valo light, and it has a better liner.

If u want more flexible skates take a look at remz or K2 but remember some things.
U are a tall and heavy guy and also an beginner. Stiffer skates have a better ankle support and this is what i would recommend for beginners. The flex for grinding doesn´t come from ur ankles, it comes mostly from ur knees, with a little bit of training u can flex in every skate.
If u just want an answer to ur question, i would prefer the JJ Lights
Next step, red soulplates, wheels and white instep strap

    gens!

cheap, durable, highly customizable, light weight, great shock absorbers, good flex.

the cults are good skates IMO. have you tried just getting a thicker/higher liner? a thicker/higher liner would keep the buckle from digging into your leg and allow you to flex a bit more.
