listen to this NPR bit Neil Tyson DeGrasse drops knowledge on the movie, so gratifying

    http://www.npr.org/blogs/monkeysee/2...medium=twitter

also anyone trying to tie in Alien to this just needs to go see Alien again, watch an amazing movie instead of an ok movie

No, it doesn't. The crashed ship from Alien predates the events of this movie.

you guys complaining about the holes in the plot and the dubious science are weenies.
movie studios sure are glad to have idiots like you to consistently fill seats and turn off their brains for 2 and a half hours. i'm perfectly fine doing just that when a film advertises itself as a no brainer popcorn flick, but that shit does not fly in a sci-fi film claiming to ask "big" questions while riding on the heels of a much better film.

speaking of that other film, prometheus tries so hard to tie itself into Alien while maintaining ambiguity. what kind of a cunt filmmaker alludes to his movie being a prequel at every fucking opportunity and constantly throws that shit on in the background, but then includes minor details to make sure it won't be claimed as a prequel. fuck you scott, you pretentious cunt bag. I'm sure every fan immediately understood that they were different moons by naming this one LV223 (Alien is LV426) so that you could leave a gap for indefinite sequels.

i saw some shit on the first page of this thread and decided to stop reading

the movie leads itself on as a prequel
    fuck Alien VS Predator
    fuck 3D movies

this movie made me think about how sedated we all are. I don't mean "we" as you specifically, reader, so don't bitch at me. But seriously, life itself is marketed and sold to you these days to keep fat shits alive, we're lied to about most things and fed just the worst shit for our bodies and we fucking love it. I can see how this movie could have been made in anger towards the human race, how we're all stupid bastards that might as well be some failed experiment of something bigger and stronger than us.

Plot holes aside, did anyone else notice the "bio weapon woes" subplot? Here is a race that supposedly created us, in all their power, they couldn't contain what they thought would be the perfect weapon. I really enjoyed the same outcome as the original Alien series in that it ends up destroying them. Just my 2 cents, I really enjoyed the film and I knew there was something fishy about it being LV233, but I didn't take the time to look it up. The one thing that got me, is that the Engineer didn't find a way back to the cockpit after being impregnated. It would have been a nice touch.
