    Learn stalls.

Stall a topsoul. Stall it ten times in a row. If you miss once, start again. Then go slow homie. roll up to that shitty flat grindbox and try sliding it a little. Do the same on the rail.

Think of tricks as a problem. You have to troubleshoot the situation. You are unable to lock the trick. Find a very small curb, and place your feet in that position. Work your feet in and around that position to get some idea of how much "play" you have before you slip out of that position. It's all about muscle memory. Practice stalling and locking in. Don't worry about sliding the trick. Just stall the trick. It seems extremely basic, but 80 percent of the tricks I learned, I learned by stalling them on tiny curbs.

Something that helped me was skating at an angle to the ledge instead of parallel with it. Helps you slap it on there...

    And bend your knees.

bend your knees and have your topside foot under your crotch if that makes sense. thats how i figured them out years ago and it worked for me. also what trick are you trying? i think a topside acid is the easiest topside to learn on a box or square rail. maybe different for other people but on topacid you can get pretty low and your balance is completely centered opposed to a topsoul or sweaty where youre kind of at an angle. i think a topside pornstar was the first one i really got down but that was on a round rail, but you can also get low and youre pretty centered. hope that helps a little.

thanks for the help guys. i trying to do a topsoul. my leg is more flexible inward than outward. so i can do a porn way more easier than an acid or mizou.

Just learning this shit myself here's some things that have helped my a lot.
Try to undershoot the ledge and coming in at and angle, Ill elaborate on top soul

I found myself having a really hard time locking in, id always overshoot and miss locking my soul on the side of the ledge killing my shins, I started aiming and inch or two off the ledge and found myself locking tricks more often, then if I really undershot i'd pretty much land on my feet.

when approaching with a little bit of speed, I found going parallel with the ledge, counter-intuitively, made things harder. I found coming in at an angle and trying to jump ontop of the ledge (instead of jumping and kicking my foot to the side to force the lock in) made locking easier and misses not nearly as deadly.

I dunno if you've had this issue, but with ny hblock foot (or royal foot, w/e) sometimes id put my heel down causing me to stick hard, by trying to get my toe pointed down the side of the ledge i found my balance shifted in a way that made holding topsoul much easier, it pretty much forced me to get lower and really trust being on my frame instead of rolling the trick

So, in short undershooting the ledge, coming in at and angle and trying to land directly ontop of the ledge has helped me a bunch.
Also, having a shin guard on your soul foot helps confidence by X10000000, misses don't matter then.

Something with round coping can help you get the muscle memory whenever you get the chance, then it's a lot easier on a real ledge.

it helps to bring your legs up to a topsoul instead of jumping on top of it, also if you approach too parallel it's much harder to fully lock get comfortable with coming in at an angle, bringing your soul foot up under your butt and lace that shit.

i feel like truespin topside soul is way way safer than ao topside soul
truespin ao top soul is kinda like doing a back farve for me
but ao top soul is like 270 back farve
    hope this helped

Yea I used to roll true topsouls and true top soyales on coping in like '99 but stopped for whatever reason. Had em on lock reg and switch on my prail in 2003... never was able to wrap my mind around ao topsoul on a ledge. So no that didn't help.
