Quite right this one, I believe Adapt is the only company right now using real carbon fiber.
The USD Carbon IV apparently uses a mixture which is of lesser quality than what they used for the II/III.
And Valo, well, let's not even go there.

If carbon fibre was done right, it could be great. I believe Adapt are going down the right avenues. However, the USD Carbons, and probably the Valo Lights, I have come to realise, are basically unnecessary crap. I'm glad I'm back on plastic hard shell boots, they feel so much more solid.
How many skateboarders does it take to change a lightbulb? One, but it'll take him 100 tries.

Are you ready to pay 500/700 or 1000 for real carbon boot like the speed skate???
Apparently 300 for a boot is way too much for aggressive bladers so stop bitching !!!

When I started skating we paid 300 for crappy skates that gave us blisters and didn't bitch about it.
I'm so happy right now that there are really good affordable skates for kids, something I never had growing up rollerblading.
So be carefull about what you call "too much".

    This ^^

Skates have barely increased in price, and the quality is through the roof compared to 10 years back.

Carbon is totally legit in skates. Everything has a failure rate and my experience of skating carbons has been 100% positive.

Pricing is a little different in the US and the dollar amount has appreciably increased over the last 12+ years, but that's more a function of inflation than anything else. Skates actually cost less now, than they did 12+ years ago.

I don't buy into the whole skinned boots fad as that's more form than function and our feet, for the most part, have been in the same shells for over a decade, but integrated soul plate/base plate design has come a long way. I can't say the same for durability when we're still dealing with the same issues due to the nature of our sport. Although, the problems that we're seeing with Valo Lights is pretty new.

That said, I'm actually considering getting a pair of Carbon 3's.

It's not a sound marketing strategy. It would give the while company a bad image. How many people have lost faith in Valo because of this?

The USD carbons are decent (if flawed), I do not believe they are trying to make a substandard product.
