Default Hitting your knee cap on a rail... (seeking advice)

So today I was skating this weird rail, starts straight, curves 90 degrees, flat for about 2 meters, then theres a bar in the middle and about .75 of a meter left to grind. Anyways I farved the flat and curve, went to switch up to topsoul, fucked up and hit the inside part of my knee of the rail. That little bump that sticks out on the inside of the knee cap. Its bruised and swollen pretty bad.
So far I've taken anti inflammatory's, iced it, and applied Tiger Balm. I'm keeping it elevated (above my heart). Is there anything else to do to speed up recovery time or at this point am do I have to tough out? I plan on icing every hour for 10-15 minutes.

Not sure dude but I hit my kneecap pretty hard on a rail and was out for like 2 weeks. Good luck with the recovery.

Kneecaps always seem to feel way worse than they actually are, I bet you'll be all right in a few days. I legit thought I busted mine once but it turned out to be fine lul

i have had swell knee similar to yours (it sounds like) for the past week, its now just a little fluid filled bump slowly receding, but mines also numb...ice that shit for a few hours over the day, IBproofins cool, elevate that shit at night

that's the best i got, its prolly gonna take a while for it to heal up nice.

Seems like I'm doing the best I can do.. I was hoping for a be-doc to come in, but I should be fine sooner or later. Chronic pain stopped about 90 minutes ago so I don't think it will be too bad.. Just pissed off I cant skate at my friends bbq box session tomorrow! Guess I'll have to film/make an edit of the whole thing instead, so in the end I will still enjoy myself.

i hit my knee so many times so frequently i got bursitis on it, you seriously don't want that cause it never goes away so i'd let it heal fully

    Such as...?

It does seem like you're doing the best you can. Injuries happen, and you can't rush recovery.

My mom's a nurse...I could ask her. But it's 1:30 in the morning so it'll haveto wait until tomorrow (if you really even care that much). I think that's the closest you'll get unless Gonzalo gets in here and idk what kind of doctor he is

I do care, I have to bend with my knee's at work at it will be hell unless I'm willing to risk a back injury..
Ask her, it will be a good deed plus karma on your part. My knee cap is swollen like a baseball 8 hours in. I am trying my best to take care of it (stated in first post).
Gonzalo would be great help in this post!

I hit mine about 4 years ago on the second day of a BCN skating trip. Hit my knee pretty hard right on top of the rail.

It swelled up pretty bad, and was all blue. Skating was impossible, walking was difficult for about 3-4 days. Healed up pretty well, all I did was just keep it moving.

Do yoga while you wait, or go see a doctor if you're really worried. Unless there's broken bone which needs setting then you'll probably just be prescribed painkillers and rest.

Is this your only question? Because you answered it...

Not sure what else you'd want to hear from someone over the internet that can't look at your knee, watch you move your leg, manipulate your leg, look at xrays...

And Gonzalo is a Pathologist and could give a fuck about patient care. If you want to send him a piece of your kneecap and ask if you have cancer he's your dude.

i would suggest stop taking anti-inflammatories and use heat as well as ice
anti inflammitories can cause the build up of unwanted minerals in joints (especially injured ones) and arthritis in the future

    Just got back from l'hopital.
After almost a week of intense pain I finally decided to go, waited 8 hours.
Got my x rays, everything is ok. He thinks my bone is bruised on the knee cap.
He wants me to go to a specialist the check out my ligaments, he was worried because everything was swollen.
I love free healthcare, you just need the time for it!
