Thread: the official "I don't have a tattoo" thread

I'd rather spend the money that I would use to buy a tattoo, and instead buy a nice painting that I like or have an artist friend draw for me and hang it up in my birthing quarters, Why? because I like art, and I actually really like good tattoos on people, girls...but myself no, Why? because there is this thing that is apart of life, it's called death. And when it happens, it so happens that your body, in one way or another, decays. Uhhh ok what's that supposed to mean? well, it means the tattoos you have on your body mean nothing because the nice healthy skin underneath the ink is going to rot away, or burn away...whatever. I plan to buy paintings and shit when I get the money and time, and just keep them, and try and pass them along to my kids etc...can't do that with tattoos. I know people that have gotten the same tattoos as their parents etc...which is kind of cool I guess? imagine a family that gets their family "symbol" tattooed on everyone, I think that would be pretty neat. But no, I don't have none and I don't plan on getting any.

....And if I were to get one, it would be military related. But then again...no, because I realize there is no "theme" i guess you can say...about a tattoo that is original. When I was USMC, coming out of bootcamp with guys that had no tattoos, to show up to MCT with a bunch of little fucking motards with EGA's and shit all on their backs and ribs and shit... miraculously, I would say about 70% if not more of Marines have a motard tat...I've seen pretty cool ones, but after a while they are mostly pretty lame. The mil ones I really have liked are the ones that recognize a fallen brother, I've seen really intricate ones like that, or ones the represent the middle east in some way. There was a dude that had 7.62 on a belt and there was like sand and shit sort of wisping in the "wind" and it had the boots an m4 and a helmet on muzzle, with the guys dogtags hanging from the m4...had some other stuff to, very intricate.

well, if your really hardcore you could put an order in your will to have your tattooed skin removed and preserved so the tattoos live on

People say their tattoos mean something to them and a lot of them do.. But majority of the time the main reason why people get them is because they think they'll look cool whether they admit it or not. That or they ignorantly convinced themselves that having a picture of a feather on the side of your body for the rest of your life will be soo cool. Years ago, if you had a tattoo you were most likely in prison or a gang or some shit like that. Now most people get them because they wanna be "different" and "unique". Which is also ironic because they probably got one because someone they know did. Although I will admit I've seen some awesome tattoos that people have drawn up themselves, they're just not for me. Too much money, too much permanent.

that would not be hardcore, just disgusting. ntm, it would look really fucked up over some time, and not even be worth it, thus, tattoos aren't worth it.

Never been a fan of tattoos, they just look childish and pointless to me. Also i can never imagine a picutre/text that I like for the rest of my life.

My girl has 2 huge tattoos tho...

I thought about getting one for a long time, but slowly realised I only wanted to because all the cool kids were getting them. I can totally understand why people do get them, it's the same reason people do stuff to their hair or wear jewelery, they want to make a statement using the physical appearance of their body.

I'm not worried about it being permanent, I'd be clever enough to get something that I know I like and wouldn't feel ashamed of later in life, whatever my situation. It would also be somewhere easy to cover up, probably on the torso.

The sensible part of my brain stops me from getting something so un-sensible done though.
