A purse over two grand and the highest "ranked" blader is Jeph Howard?!

That's some bullshit, no hate toward Jeph because I love the dude's skating, but that's fucking bullshit. We want to see Broskow and Haffey skate street in real life just like we see them skate park at bittercold.

Couldn't agree more, $2000 is a lot of money. I didn't know such things existed in rollerblading.

Bolino as first got only 150€, the fee from the people competing.
montre, janssons and gagi as 2nd and 3rd got a hoodie
i guess it was just luck that they were touring at this time and that they are still juiced to skate

IDK, they must have a reason they don't come. Might not even know about it!

With how judging usually goes, a skater could go bust their ass and still not get any money. So they are probably disillusioned with the (lack of a) judging system.

Exactly. But your wording is a little off. I wouldn't called it luck, I'd say it was a result of a skilled team of organizers.

Honestly I had no idea that this contest was held recently, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one.
If you want this to be as big as bittercold, then promote it like it's bittercold, put some promo clips/posters online, make it look official, and contact some skaters/brands to come and support.

But if you did all that and still nothing, then it's a different story.

If he wants pros to go to his comp he needs to blow up the owners of these companies and suggest they send their riders. I'm sure most pros find out when and where they are going from their team managers. If JJ wanted his riders there, he would have sent them, if Shima wanted his riders there....etc etc.

^ I'm positive that's what Colin did. We're not talking about Joe Schmoe holding a comp for the local kids.

And I don't doubt that, so he should be calling out the owners and team managers, not the bladers. I'm sure these guys wouldn't mind going to every event but it's just not feasible for most companies.

2k aint' shit. I just spent 10k to take my kid back home for three weeks.

people really need to realize that the dollar is shit.

as far as the comp goes:

judging in our sport is a fucking joke. If you are "pro" and you aren't friends with the judges there is no reason to show up.

Do you even know who Colin is? He works his ASS off every year promoting the hell out of WCR. He is always willing to take a phone call and to help people find a place to stay, and I know that he contacts as many companies as he can to help out as well.

Pros also know who Colin is. There are 2 sides to each story though..

Chris said in that interview he has to take care of himself so that he can perform in the Nitro Circuis, so that takes him out.

When a Pro is flown out to a contest they need a place to stay, money for food, and some times incentive.

I know that sounds CRAZY, but that is how the professional world works some times. So, from a companies perspective it can cost them quite a lot over all.

I've said it before and I will say it again,

Most companies are alive and selling product, just so they can be in rollerblading and basically be just a name. A lot of the clothing brands and wheel companies sell just enough to maintain their tax id number and don't truly make a profit. If they do make a profit it is SMALL, or they work for a larger company which funds their "efforts."

Obviously talking about brands like RB, The Conference, Sunshine, and Valo.

Side note, I thought the whole Razors scooter thing was just a joke/ coincidence, but does Sunshine actually own the scooter end?
Their website shows that they own/ distribute Elyts and 841......

Now I feel like Razors doesn't have an excuse not to send pros anywhere..... Especially since their gymic is "We out here."

i know its hard to run a comp and props to colin for being so on top of everything but i think there needs to be a better way to judge street contests. i couldnt make it but i heard it was based on votes and that leaves a lot of room for error. i was told lerner deserved the win which i believe because that guy is really good but i also heard a lot of people got screwed, jeph howard being one of them. judging is always tough and again i wasn't there, but generally speaking i think this is a big problem with street comps(and park comps too but not as bad).

Exactly why I said he needs to call out the owners/team managers and not the pro bladers themselves. I'm sure pleeenty of pros would have been down to go if they were offered the trip.
