I don't take it as fact. There is very little in the study of ancient civilizations that I take as fact. There are still too many unresolved factors going into every speculation.
It's a show to kill time, not change lives.
I have a love/hate for this show. The archeological evidence is so fascinating and compelling, but the rampant speculation embarrasses me. If I hear about ancient scriptures, reputed scholars or any of that shit what comes next is some nerd who wrote a magazine article once.
i really like it but obviously take it with a grain of salt. the history channel has some REALLY fucking stupid programming and this is no exception. i still find it entertaining and fun to think about, usually when im pretty high.
You have to agree that some of the shit they discuss is pretty crazy to think about and I believe that they might not be too far off with some of their hypothesis. Like the Giza power plant theory or the Nasa episode. I mean come on, you have multiple military personal, scientists and astronauts making claims that what they experienced could not be explained and was for sure out of the ordinary. The universe is so giant and vast (and we don't even know how large it truly is or what else could really be out there) that thinking we're the only planet with intelligent life is pretty ignorant. Some of the people on the show are pretty eccentric so I guess it kinda turns people off to it making them think, "oh look at this fucking guy (aliens meme), this show is a joke." I still find it entertaining for the most part, there are some fascinating episodes and some boring ones. It's one of those shows where you can think up the greatest theories in your head and they can't really be proven wrong because we don't know what is truly out there.

i love to entertain possibilities of how we got to this point as a civilization. i think it was on joe rogans podcast where someone was saying if there was alien intervention it was within the past 100 years and not back then. it is crazy how in 1901 people were on horse and buggy and by 1999 technology had developed so much. what if humans were around for way longer than we originally thought and there have been advanced societies multiple times throughout the years? some catastrophic event happens and we have to start over. idk, we'll never know but it's fun to think about.
Human technology grew so much in that time because of the invention of the internal combustion engine and the (over)use of fossil fuels. There's also absolutely no evidence of some kind of cyclical human growth and rebirth that you are implying. There would certainly be some kind of fossil evidence of that.
I fucking hate the history channel so much.
Sadly, there is far more to life than rollerblading.
