i rode the 57s flat yesterday at a skate park.
What Fast eddied said was pretty right.
You just need to be on point. Top soul for example, if your leading foot isn't 90degrees to your soul foot. You can feel it.

back royales proved to be quite difficult....

I didn't get to skate a ledge but I'm not really looking forward to it.
will try a little one this afternoon..... I feel there will be much wheel bite in my future.

Changing the frames over is a pain in the ass because the middle wheels block the ufs bolts.

Riding flat is something everyone should try. Just to experience the difference in speed but more importantly how much extra distance you can go from one push.
If I could make some hitch hikers for the Creates I don't think I'd ever go back to antis...
    Any one ever tried it?

Just wax up a red fire curb and practice royales until you slide without any wheel bite and then move on to a picnic bench/lunch table. Successful? Graduates to the next level and continue to do so.

I only have problems with skate park ledges, nowhere else. I think they use galvanized steel or something...basically rubberized steel. Other than that I'm fine with cement and whatever else. So no need to be a lazy bastard dreaming of hitch hikers...just bend your knees.

    fuck that shit.

    practice on the high stuff!

If the frame is touching and the royale groove / plate is touching then going lower is only going to lift the frame off the obstacle....
hitch hikers make the best of both worlds possible and i don't think that's dreaming.

Maybe it is due to the shape of the h-block, but I have no problems at all with my flat 58's in my ables. I m going to be upset if the level2 frames get delayed.

I used to have this problem, and my beginner buddy has too, always stopping on ledges because of the inner wheels. This is why i chose anti's this time around, honestly, 1000x better, but as previously said, i will probably end up with a sloppy style by the end of it. Next frames i purchase will probably be freestyle to see how it is.

My buddy put grind plates on his CO's. Check pages 58-61: http://issuu.com/k2rolla/docs/issue_8/1

I'll never go back to anti. I absolutely despised my experience with them. I skated flat from the time I first put on a pair of blades (over 20 years ago) and have never tried anti until a year ago after I got back into grinderblading after 7 years. I tried anti for a few months. The lack of control was so unpleasant. I hated not being able to carve and zig zag smoothly. It took me a few weeks to get comfortable with 8 wheel h-block tricks again but I really don't have much of a problem sticking anymore. It was annoying starting back from tiny curbs and baby ledges but that's exactly what it takes...cliche but you gotta learn to crawl, walk and run before you skate.

You know, I always wondered why replaceable h-blocks and grindplates were phased out. I just assumed frame companies were money hungry and wanted their products to be replaced as often as possible. If I could find grindplates that worked with COs I would definitely try them out. The only thing that might not work well is the grindplate on the backslide groove for top-souls. I'd like to see a thin plate, like the old metal ones used for this purpose.

Where did the H-block go? Go ask super down with supporting aggressive skating company K2. They sued other skate companies for the royalty rights of the H-block. That's why K2's stock frame has an H-block. M-Types, Formula 1's, and 50/50 Cores all do simular things to an H-block, but are supposedly different enough to avoid patent violations.
And it really sucks that so many kids are lining up to rep K2 these days.
K2 doesn't buy ad space in magazines or videos or help out with contests. They haven't made a team video in over a decade. Haven't sponcered a team in almost a decade.
And rollerbladers complain about not being respected. But you don't deserve respect if you choose to support a company like K2 over Valo, Razors, USD, Adapt, etc.

what's better for flat? smaller or bigger h-block? i have some valo frames. maybe it's better than my creates, the grooves are too big. i skated the shit out of that frame.

I always thought smaller h-blocks would be better. However, it also depends on the split. A frame like the GC F1 XS has a huge split but also has a super wide groove and leaves the wheels exposed. The pictures I've seen of the valo and youth co frames also appear to have a lame split. Just look at the pictures of Valo setup flat or the pics of Farmer skating Youths flat. I wonder if it'd be ok to drill a new set of holes in a frame to widen the split.
