Think more dude, certain states have resources that others don't, trade in private and public sectors. Not everything is connect so even with an economic and resource upset, some states would become even richer then they're currently. Then you have the black market which would thrive in conflict, human trafficking, drugs, weapons. Large industry for the US and surrounding countries.
As far as reasons go, there are plenty, poverty, moral and ethical differences, those stated above. Political ideology. Sure after every conflict there is a rough period, but that's just it. A period of time. The thought is not destruction, but creation. If you see it in that light. It makes more sense. People don't usually go to war for bullshit reasons dude.
