i've never been to a rave, but i think i'm gonna try to go to EDC (electric daisy carnival) next year for one night. i don't really dig most dance music…but when you're tripping balls and rolling your ass off, it's the greatest thing in the world.

Yeah. In the 1990's in Detroit. Pure face-melting. Festivals are not raves. Raves are few and far between anymore.

Surprised to find someone in this thread who actually has a clue. Not surprised you're from Detroit.

    checkpoints? check.
    permits? nah.
now THAT is a rave. went to one in an old coal mine / cave system once, a few field / warehouse raves, more than a few festivals, and plenty of clubs 98-05ish, still show my face now n again but not much.

Raves are only fun if the music is worth while. The current state of EDM is garbage.

Wow, I am not the only person pissed off at how garbage EDM is atm and how its as popular as it is?
Is this shit the flavour of the month?
It angers me how much electronic dance music is on the radio nowdays...fucking Nero/skrillex/shock one/swedish house mafia etc etc.
It angers me more when I'm sitting at the lights in my car and the person next to me has EDM playing so loud all I hear is vibrations.

    Maybe I'm too old....

I miss the french touch era.

    Daft Punk

    Le Knight Club

    Fred Falke

    Alan Braxe

    Cassius

    Dj Falcon

Great times. There really isn't any good straight house music these days.

private raves are fun, no tickets to buy
    - no cops
    - bring whatever you want
    - music can be better, local djs
    - sound system medium/large
    - sense of community
    - hundreds of people
    - minimal amount of clunge

commercial raves can be fun, tickets are waaay expensive
    - can't bring whatever you want
    - cops / medical staff / vendors
    - music is usually chart hits + the new guys
    - sound system is amazing, and intelligent lighting for djs
    - thousands of people
    - feels like you a piece of coral in the great barrier reef
    - clunge everywhere!

both are fun, sober or altered

don't buy cheap stuff, will result in disappoint
