    Default Brett Dasovic- The Breakdown

Aloha Be-Maggers, I am going to post the entirety of this video on monday night, that includes full sections of Bolino, Garlinghouse, Farmer and in my opinion the most dangerous Jeph Howard section yet filmed. In the meantime, this was my section from the project, Blake Cohen and myself filmed these tricks in the summer of 09. The song is "Hall of Mirrors" by The Distillers. This was easily the best skating summer of my life and I am glad that there is a video section to remember those days with! Enjoy.

That was a great video! I rewatched it a couple months ago and realized how much potential it has to some day be counted among the best. There were a lot of tricks in that video that were game changing.

One of your better profiles I've seen! What are you doing with your arms after every trick though?

great skating, but don't like the arm thing. the fact that you don't do it on mid-line landings makes it look a bit forced sometimes.

just curious, how long was this filmed over, and does the order of clips in the edit generally coincide with this? there is almost a subtle change in style through the edit, towards the end the clips look smoother.

Have I ever told you that you look a lot like my cousin Sam? He's been in and out of rehab for oxy.

    To give some general responses

No clue about the arm thing, my style just is what it is, if it looks forced or whatever I didn't control it, form just happens I suppose. Not doing it mid line you are probably subconciously thinking about getting prepared for another trick to jump to. Landing with your arms a certain way is a habit you develop I think for some people that gives the trick finality. My skating has a bit different look now but I believe that is from more experience and skating a different brand skates.

It was not HD because it was filmed in 2009, Minnesota didn't go HD Til after this summer.

I skated like I was hungry as fuck because I did have something to prove that year.

The film period Varied from The early sping to the end of summer.
It's possible tricks got smoother as the summer went on, but I'd say that's pretty common with anyone who skates daily and learns new things. With every day you skate you get more skill from practice, more self awareness on how to skate the way you want to skate. So perhaps that was why it looked that way.

The distillers are raw as fuck and all the songs on that album were songs I listened to a lot during the summer this was filmed hence its use.

A lot of great stuff in that edit, I was especially impressed with the tru miz to transfer kind grind on the handi. But I gotta be that guy:

These do not count. I don't care how fast you were going, you stepped up to that zero fish big time and slapped the shit outta the ground on the ender gap, with both hands.

You are infinitely better than me at skating, but that also means that you should be well aware that that shit don't count.

I love kids. They're short, highly emotional people who don't know anything. They rely on their creativity and imagination to get by in the world. A world, I might add, filled with giants. Amazing feat.

I would normally completely agree with you, but not here. The zero fish looked really cool and even when I watched it I was like, "Why am I not upset he just stepped on?" haha I might give you the point on the gap, but would you wanna try that again?

I know what should and should not count in skating, but i also know that judging what you have done on skates is alot easier to be picky about when you go back and watch it. Yes, the zero fish I would not use today, alot of those tricks are different than what I would put out now, 3 years later. But the gap I am not going to apologize for. I am not a talented blader when it comes to landing gaps in the first place, and even though my hands did hit the ground they did not keep me on my feet. If it was a smaller gap i probably would have given it a 15th jump, but a stunt is a stunt, it was a cool moment because of how many tries it took, even if it was not done perfectly. It would be sick to see someone who is better at jumping shit to do the gap more cleanly...good thing I am not pro and don't have to worry about those things!
