    Frage Kaltik flat frame spacers

Hey be-mag. I've got a set of flat frames with the "good hardware", but the black plastic frame spacers are causing a ton of friction against the bearings. I'm using salomon axles with 58mm M1 dual duros, nothing odd about the bearings or bearing spacer combo on these. They spin a lot more freely in the valo frames, for example. If I tighten the axles to what I'd consider "snug", the wheels are just getting sandwiched in there. Really don't like leaving axles loose just to keep the wheels spinning freely.

So, can anyone recommend other frame spacers for the kaltiks? Does anything else fit?

Valo's spacers are too small, the old TRS metal ones are just barely too small, and I haven't owned any kizer parts before, but it looks like the M-type spacers might fit – anyone tried those?

Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

    hmmm....

now i'm interested. i have kaltiks but have only used blank wheels inside of them so far. never tried putting my dual duros inside.

I could just be being picky. Really it's about the axles, I can't tighten them to what I'd say is a "normal" amount without squashing the spacers against the bearings. They do spin well enough if I leave them bit loose, but that just seems like a bad solution.

Odd. I used the same setup. DD's in kaltiks with salo axles and stock spacers and had no problems. With salo axles they dont have to be super tight IMO, because they grip into the plastic since there are ridges on the back side of the bolt heads.

The salomon axles definitely made a huge difference compared to the old GC bolts I had in there. I guess I'll just get used to backing off a bit when I go to tighten them up.

Thanks for the response. Don't get me wrong, I love the frames. I was interested to find out of there was a significant difference using the plastic spacers vs. a metal alternative. I think I'll stick it out with the plastic ones for the life of the frame. They are holding up well otherwise! Also, great to hear about new flat frames on the way, I'll definitely be picking up another pair once these wear out.

    Default FOUND THEM!

Hey all, longtime lurker, first time poster.

I recently got Kaltik frames and I'm rolling flat. The plastic frame spacers work, but I was still looking for metal replacements. The only metal spacers that I've tried that fit right were from BLANK frames. They are a tad too small, maybe half a millimeter, they fall out if you don't hold them in when you place your wheels. But they work!

50/50 are the right shape, but they are too deep.

just got a set of kaltiks and i'm having the same problem. trying to put the stock nylon frame spacers in they appear to be to small for the machined hole. when i tighten them it's either so loose the wheel wiggles or it's too tight and they don't spin.

i tried able frame spacers and those don't do the job, too long

i bought rollerblade frame spacers for non kaltik frames but set them in to see how they fit and they were too small for my kaltiks, as well as some kizer type-m spacers. cross them off the list. the options coming down the line from kaltik sound promising. i prefer a good solid frame spacer personally.

are rollerblade frame spacers the same as blank spacers? The blanks are a tad small, but my kaltiks with metal blank spacers are solid with no wheel/bearing clack or hardware noise. Not used to how it grinds at all, but I love the frame for how fast it is 59mm flat.

Same, but it varies with the wheels I use. With M1 dual duros I have to keep the axles a little bit too loose to keep them rolling without resistance. With Face 60mm blanks I can crank them down tight and they still spin freely. I'm guessing its a combination of the core/bearings/bearing spacers. I'd like to try metal spacers in the frames eventually to see if it makes a difference.

i don't know what the spacers would have come out of, i got them from amall and they were just listed as rollerblade frame spacers.

The M1's not spinning is probably just a case of the bearing spacing in the hubs being a little bit too big. This happens a lot with Labeda hubs it seems. If it bothers you, measure your bearing spacers and try to find some that are slightly longer.
