A little background, This picture was taken by me at the University of Illinois. If you aren't familiar with our relationship to our mascot I'll give you a brief summary:
Illini tribe doesn't care we are called the fighting illini
Random people in the community think its racist
NCAA has made us change our name from fighting illini to illini
We had to say goodbye to the best mascot ever:
