Espen, do you have much experience with scopes other than Zeiss? I'm looking at buying a first focal plane scope for when my M1A stock comes in. Ziess, Swarovski, Nightforce, US Optics, Schmidt and Bender, etc are all crazy expensive. Vortex makes a great scope from what I hear and I can get a first focal plane, 50mm objective, illuminated reticle, zero stop, all the bells and whistles for $900. Equivalent features with those other brands are in the $2-3,000 range. I'm just trying to understand why you'd pay the extra cash.
You pay extra for damn fine glass. But if you want something good, but are not willing to sell your soul people recommend Meopta. According to my co-worker (who's got more experience than me) they use the same glass as Zeiss, but don't do the same work of course. I think I'm getting a Meopta tactical with mildots for my 700 when I get it, I get mad good prices on those.

Made 40 of my own .308 rounds today... I'd be lying if I wasn't a bit nervous to shoot a mag of them. I have a powder checker, a nice scale, and high quality Redding crimp/seating dies but still, ya never know. I think I'll try them out of my bolt action first as that rifle cost less than half that of my M1A.
It'll be fine if you've used some data. Make som subsonics for me plz.
On a sidenote I've been doing quite a lot of sidearm training recently, I'm pretty fast but still not accurate with the P80 on longer range. I hate training accuracy with handguns, I'm deadly accurate with rifles but never understand why my shots won't group better with the glockOh well, in a battle situation I guess it's better to draw fast and put a bullet somewhere in your opponent rather than taking time getting a 2 inch group

Yeah I picked up a reloading book and used the data in that. Using 748 powder, it said 40 grains would get me 50,000 psi with 168 gr HPBT bullets. I loaded them up with only 36 grains to be safe. I also accidently double charged one and it was enough powder to overflow. So I think I'd notice if that happened more than the once and that's about the only thing that can go wrong besides the round not working.
Yeah, I'll definitely be checking every round to ensure my bullet isn't really just half way down the barrel.
anyone watch the magpul dvd's? you can torrent them. i watched "art of the tactical handgun" and it's helped my shooting.

I have all of them, including the art of the precision rifle. Still haven't watched the dynamic handgun yet, but def will do.
Funny thing with handguns and how accurate they seem on television, I'd feel reasonably safe to just show my finger if some thug fired at me with one from 30+ metersI'd only pull my handgun if my rifle jams, there's no rocks to throw and I forget my cutlery at home.

my roommate tried to tell me the sights on my ruger were off. i took it from him and punched out a 2 inch sticker from 10 yards away. was all like get out of here with that shit.
