Default My new setup. USD VII Classics. Curiosity killed the cat??

Being in contact with skaters all year round, travelling to contests and watching videos, I have become more and more intreagued by the French skaters who skate the VII USD skate with Classic Throne soulplates. All of them tell me that the setup skates incredibly well, going so far as to say it is the best setup they have ever skated.

I believe Adrien Anne was the first to build this setup, and since then Roman Abrate, Allan Beulieu, Adrien Clairaz and more have all told me about the benefits of this skate. After watching some of these riders skate them at the Bulle Contest in Switzerland, I realised that I had wanted to try this skate for a while.

The thing is I have always been immensely frustrated at being unable to skate Classic Thrones, due to them not fitting my feet. A size 10 is too big, and a size 9 is too small. I skated the VII Pianowski USD skate a while back ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcwUdd-Uh5c ) and I found them to be the most comfortable skate ever. I skated them in a size 9US and I am really a 9.5, but they fit so snug.

So at last I have a chance to try the closest I can get to a Classic Throne. The skate has absolutely great flex, and is really light. In fact I have always been a fan of this shell. It is also really well priced, with great specs, including a full flat setup and really high quality liners, anti-shock and parts.

Right now I have torn my calf muscle, but once I have recovered I will make an edit of my first day skating them, and let you know how I get on.

For now, here are the pics of the setup I have put together. All these parts are on sale now. As Usual I am going for a Type M Kizer frame, the frame I have sworn by for 5 years or so, thanks to its speed and reliablility, and the all new, US poured UC Demetrios George pro-wheels. Those who have tried these new US poured wheels will know how far ahead they really are in terms of quality and speed.

    Oli.

Not a huge fan of the cuff (not the decal, the actual shape of it from the side looks cheesy) but those are sexy as hell

The cuff looks like the old style throne cuff??? I think those look pretty cool. Hard to argue a setup when multiple people claim it's good. ha ha.

the design on the cuff looks like some of obey's designs, but i can't find the exact one.

    here is something similar..

also, it's not necessarily a bad thing, i love obey's stuff.

The Carbon's are the best skate ever.

I have got new soulplates for mine, as I have been riding the same ones since febuary, but Im super juiced on trying something new too. I like to swap around and learn about the products we produce, its not like I don't want to try anything ever again...but yeh, Carbons are still going to be the best skate ever and I can't see that getting beat, but this post isn't about Carbons its about another option from USD and I have always wanted to try Classics and this is the closest i can get...

True True, I was just curious, I thought you meant this is what you are going to be skating from now on. White thrones are dope, but the new shape has me hesitant. I loved my old ones but they were a bit narrow.

I've been interested in this skate b/c of the sizing. It sounds perfect for my foot for the same reasons you describe Oli. I'm just not feeling the look of the plates. I would probably go with a v-cuff as well

I'd really like to see/try these with the nimh plates and some v-cuffs

if usd knew what is good for them they would redesign the vii soul plates to make them more aesthetically pleasing.

Analyse what is so great about the classic throne souls, then put that data towards the design of better styled vii souls.

They do look like every other hard boot skate thats ever been released.

    Ps
maybe give them a racing stripe to go faster and vents for cooling, and a toe-cut cause thats what's hot right now.

Yep well the reason I made this setup as I say is because classic thrones are too narrow and also too small / large for me, but I know i would like them If they suited my halfsize foot.
