The Stuyvesant Challenge by Angelo Ferrer

The infamous Stuyvesant rail has only been cleared by a handful of people with only some of the handful being native New Yorkers. I have personally seen many skaters attempt Stuyvesant only to get to the harsh kink and fly off while hitting every step along the way. Some of you may recognize this spot as well, as the likes of Jeph Howard and Billy O’Neil have tried hitting the top banister rail then gapping into the tennis courts only to just miss the landing (to my knowledge this still has not been done, or at least hasn’t been documented on film, correct me if i’m wrong.)

Stuyvesant Challenge

Photographer and owner of The Art of Rolling online magazine, Angelo Ferrer, is posing a challenge and calling out every New York City native rollerblader to test their skills on the infamous spot. “For all those who know the infamous beast Stuyvesant rail, I’m offering a $50 cash prize to the first person to clear it and $100 for best trick. So hit me up for details. This is not a competition since you cannot be at that rail for longer than 10 minutes without getting kicked out. This is a quick opportunity to make $150 so let me know if you’re down and it will also be featured in an up incoming issue of Art of Rolling.” – Angelo Ferrer. So, if you’d like to make some money and probably a scab or two, contact Angelo. But he also issues a warning saying, “…beware over 20+ skaters have already claimed Stuyvesant to be the hardest rail in NYC and trust me if you’re not skating Oxygen skates then it will be a hard task at hand. Tell your friends spread the news and get back to us at nyrolling@yahoo.com” Good luck to those who attempt to win the money and claim the fame for being one of the few who cleared this difficult rail.
