How to play the Barely Dead HD DVD on Windows

Ed Liew figured out how to play the Barely Dead HD DVD on Windows - here's how:

It's basically the UDF2.5 driver, which is needed to play all HDVIDEO_TS ROM base media on any optical drive. Unzip it and read the instructions. It's pretty easy to follow. You'll then have to drag and drop the folder into VLC media player.

The UDF2.5 driver must be updated, which is needed to play all HDVIDEO_TS ROM base media on any optical drive. Unzip it and read the instructions. It’s pretty easy to follow.  Make sure you restart your computer after you run the driver update. Now download and run the VLC Media Player. You’ll then have to drag and drop the HD-DVD (Barely Dead Disc 2) folder into VLC media player. The DVD menu will not function (that only works on a mac) so you might find that the sections play in the incorrect order. Enjoy!

Get the codec here!

first of you got to have winrar to unzip to file

you can find winrar at www.download.com

you open the codec with winrar you extract the files and than you just :

-----Right click on "thdudf.inf" and choose Install from the list of menu options. once this is complete, you should reboot your machine for a full installation of the new UDF 2.5 File system recognition. From here your drive should no longer just say CD-ROM when examining it in windows. ----

no need to drag and drop the folder in the vlc media player.......
i did what i wrote up here and after i rebooted the computer it worked well

the quality is amazing with hd
its just insane
