This dude is 36 years-old and just broke some record for going 90 kilometers per hour in his custom built skates. Google says that's 56 mph.
It was brought to my attention on the messageboard (thanks H.H. Holmes) that this was old news and a repost. But I think I'm still going to put this in the be-log just because it's a slow news day.
This dude is 36 years-old and just broke some record for going 90 kilometers per hour in his custom built skates. Google says that's 56 mph. Holy shit. His name is Dirk and that's how I justify posting this. The dude is covered in sponsers, he looks like a Nascar car. Consider this quote:
'this was a very dangerous stunt because there were so many factors to consider - if the skates were to catch a stray nail then I could have fallen and I would almost certainly have died.'
I think I remember seeing Wile E. Coyote doing this same stunt in Acme rocket skates as another wacky attempt to catch the Roadrunner. Roadrunner got away of course. Here's an artist's rendition:
