Earlier this summer Mykel and I went on a trip to northern Arizona for some work. A couple weeks of work, good friends, good skateparks, hill bombs, camping, swimming, drinking, wheelin', trash fires and chasing lizards. It was a great time and we were ready to get the hell out of the desert.
In April Mathieu went to Arizona to meet up with James and Jon (X-Rated) to film for his Revolution 90 seconds edit. Although Mathieu is pretty busy doing stunt work for the new TV show called 'thirteen' he found some time to create an exclusive edit for be-mag uniting some of the clips from the 90 seconds edit as well as some new footage from Montreal. As you might know already, Mathieu is and has always wanted to be a true innovator. Combining his rolling skills with his acrobatic moves taken from his parcouring experience makes him an exception in the field of rolling.
"We just couldn't stop after the good times on our last Euro tour after the Clash, too much fun with everyone all throughout Germany, Holland, Belgium and France. So here we are, back home after Bittercold, deciding to tour our own backyard: Cali!" - Kato
My current set up is the Rachard Johnson's with Shima featherlite frames and Eulogy Austin Paz wheels. I used to skate with my boy Doug Fresh (Kyle Smith) alot but he moved L.A. to persue his career in cinema....
To celebrate the launch of the new Albert Hooi and Eric Perkett wheels the BHC team are visiting their friends at Revolution skateshop in Arizona.. The guys there have organized a Thursday night skate and chilled Friday skate for the kids to come meet everyone at the shop.. and have a chance to pick the first of the new wheels in the US. After that the mahem will continue as we begin to film for the new team DVD.
Check out Zared Yates impressive shreddin in the hot sun of tucson. This edit has it all, nice shots sweet spots and gnarly tricks. Edit by Cooper James. Enjoy...
Powerblading goes along with pureblading. The first day on my powerblade set-up felt like home right away. I truly feel like every blader out there should have a powerblade set-up in order to enjoy skating at its fullest. I felt a new kind of freedom with them. I relearned to enjoy skating itself. Just the feeling of rolling around became fun again. I had only 5 days with them for this edit but I know that there are so many things that can be done with these bad boys on. Welcome to this place where the word "Rolling" finds its meaning. Peace! -Mathieu Ledoux
Jeremiah came to AZ to visit me for 2 weeks last October. For one reason or another, we haven't gotten around to putting this out til now. Jeremiah is an extraordinary individual, blader, and friend. I filmed and edited this, but Jeremiah really "directed" it, and I couldn't be happier with his vision for this, and blading as a whole. We hope you enjoy. -Kris Troyer
Peep this Arizona montage featuring skating from Derek Stanton, Scott Wells, Ben Karris, Taylor Monnig and Mason Richard. Filmed and edited by Derek Stanton.
Awesome edit by Kris Troyer. We advice you to only watch this if you're able to deal with the jealousy that will strike you once you see the spots those Arizonians get to session on the reg.
Every Thursday night Revolution throws a skate session drawing the likes of anyone and everyone in the area that likes to get down and roll. This session in particular spawned a super chill edit put together by Aaron Stine and Derek Stanton which features Kenny Scherf, Andrew Scherf, James Johnson, Jeff Dobkins, Jon Jenkins, Justin Runyon, Zared Yates, and Derek Stanton. Just another great example of how great the rolling community is. We get together, hang out, and skate simply because we are all rollerbladers.
Ryan Daily is a staple in our Arizona skate scene. Check out this 'Top 5' with the Tempe resident!
Check out this short but sweet edit of Mason Richard hitting some grimey spots in Arizona. Edit by Derek Stanton. Enjoy...
How could I put into words who James Johnson is to me? James is someone that I feel blessed to share experiences on this planet with. A human being that inspires me to better myself. A dude, that I would fly out to Arizona to hang out with, even if I can't skate cause I have a busted shin. Yes, he owns a skate shop. Yes, he has been the back bone of one of the healthiest skate scenes in America. Yes, he has had hundreds of people staying in his home so they could come skate in AZ, but for me James is way more than the sum of what he did or did not. For me, James Johnson is a friend, a brother (even if I am not close to being Native). As for his skating, I will let the 90 seconds speak for itself. -Mathieu Ledoux
