First and foremost please let me apologize for prolonging the viewing of this edit. It wasn't until today that I was contacted by both Blake Taylor and Ian Copp and notified that the sentences you are about to read are what is taking the official drop so long to happen. I guess deep down I have written nothing because there is not much to be said. I tried typing this ridiculously long drawn out descriptive read that would cover every aspect of the event and all things leading up to it and after. But truth be told, there is no amount of descriptive words that can explain what an incredible event Pow Wow actually is.
Last December Michael Kraft and I, friends from Be-Mag’s msgboard, embarked on 'BuddyTour'. I brought a new tiny HD video camera to film an edit of our skate adventures, and Michael brought a new tiny laptop to write his thoughts on many aspects of his experience with the trip. What came of it was a twenty-minute edit accompanied by a lengthy essay with elements of drama, heartbreak, rollerblading history, and drunken shenanigans not to mention plenty of undocumented great times with various buddies of ours in Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee.
Preparing for months for one of the biggest competitions in Florida, Bladesgiving has turned out to be one of the funnest and biggest rollerblading events in the Southern United States along with the Pow-wow. And we are only in our second year! Skaters gathered from all over the country for a chance to rank up the WRS points and take home some cash and the huge trophy. Tim Franken, out of San Diego, Razors rider Wake Schepman, out of PA, Pro SSM rider Joey Chase and Razors flow Sammy Chase, out of Orlando, just to name a few. Also, coming all the way from Canada was our good friend Kevin Lapierre, who hurt his ankle warming up, and had to drop out of the contest. He made that huge trip, and our sympathies are with him, and we hope he recovers very soon.
Camp Woodward has once again given me a great place to call home for the summer. The heavenly-gated community of devoted rollerbladers, skateboarders, and bikers, continues to welcome all aspiring talent of all ages with open arms. With a top of the line training facility, Camp Woodward is dedicated to provide athletes at any skill level with a safe, fun, effective ways to learn and progress in all action sports.
Brian Arnold and I headed up to Woodward east this summer. We had planned to have fellow USD Team riders Tim Phang and Jeff Dalnas meet us there but at last minute they both weren't able to make it..We hope to get back to Woodward and make the full USD edit we had hoped for sometime soon. We still had a great time skating with the campers, Woodward staff and the Fuel Tv crew who are mostly bladers in case you didn't know.. -Nick Pisciotta
