Things are getting started here at Pop-Wow VI. We filmed a little 'test run' of some of the new boxes built for the contest, and the park is currently filling up.
Preparing for months for one of the biggest competitions in Florida, Bladesgiving has turned out to be one of the funnest and biggest rollerblading events in the Southern United States along with the Pow-wow. And we are only in our second year! Skaters gathered from all over the country for a chance to rank up the WRS points and take home some cash and the huge trophy. Tim Franken, out of San Diego, Razors rider Wake Schepman, out of PA, Pro SSM rider Joey Chase and Razors flow Sammy Chase, out of Orlando, just to name a few. Also, coming all the way from Canada was our good friend Kevin Lapierre, who hurt his ankle warming up, and had to drop out of the contest. He made that huge trip, and our sympathies are with him, and we hope he recovers very soon.
From around the world, 21 men and one woman ages 30 and up, answered the call for submissions to be a part of a just-for-fun online skate edit on the Be-Mag Msgboard. Embracing all disciplines (from street to vert) and skill levels, this edit is a 9:30 minute long journey of the unexpected, which proves once and for all that you are only as young as you feel.
The #1 gratification for doing these street comps is recognizing the great talent the rollerblading world has to offer. Achosen-Few likes to personally recognize the talents of each of the top 3 competitors from all the Chosen Few competitions this year. If you or your friend finished top 3 at any ACF comp expect to see his name in this article. Curtains up for Tyler Hester, Anthony Luna, Russell Day, Cyril Daniel, Daniel Henderson, Lucas Landthaler, Arsenio Patterson, Mark Wojda, Shane Thompson, Eugen Enin, Beat Schillmeier, Iain McLeod, Alex Burston, Michael Braud, Dylan Hopp, Bartek Zgrzeblak, Jon Erickson, Chris Murphy, Jose Henriquez, Dan Mclaren, Robin Weber, Russell Dineen, Tom Burch, Jon Fromm, Bartek Kasprzycki, Pat Curran, Blake Taylor, Cameron Card, Elliot Stevens, Danny Figgz and Stephane DeFreitas.

Orlando, most of the time, marks the meeting point for all of us bladers here in the Sunshine State. Also, one of the main reasons we decided to hold the first of many strings of street competitions here in Florida. Meet up spot was Barnett Skatepark. A small park with a perfect mini and an across and down rail to warm up at. Waited there for about an hour for people to show up until we headed out to the first spot. Before we headed out I made sure everyone had directions and also got with the judges to make sure we were on the same page. Lending their knowledge about the sport and tallying points was Shima Pro Rider, Joey Chase; Razors Flow Rider, Sammy Chase; Be-Mag Drama Queen, Rob Squire; and local skate veteran, Nate Ent.
David Johns from Orlando has been jumping around at the Pow-wow exclusively for Be-Mag. And as you see in the picture set below, David is not only the guy that tries to get the best skating shots, he is also deep in finding good and interesting content apart from the skating. More pictures by David on Be-Mag real soon!
