As an inline skater i've always felt like i'm part of a secret society, and this event is our annual gathering. I feel a natural connection to the fellow skaters that makes me feel at home.
Since the WRS finals were such a great event and we don't want you to forget about this, we are running an additional photo article update. Freddy White ("Frenchy Fries") who just got back from his 6-weeks trip through the States hooked us up with his personal view on the WRS finals.
When it comes to organizing some of blading's major events such as the 'European Half Pipe Championships, the Grindhouse Spine Masters, Winterclash, BCSD, or the Real Street comps there is a lot that goes on behind the scene to attribute to the comps success. There are always devoted people behind each event who work their asses off in order to keep the sport alive and bring in support year after year. These unnoticed heroes do it without any personal gain. Sometimes they even invest their own money simply for the audience, the industry, and the love of the sport.
Has this ever happened to you? You’re driving down the road on a warm summer afternoon, street-spot scouting, and out of the blue, BAM! There is a perfect mellow down rail… with a perfect approach and perfect landing. Then as the session is just getting loose a security guard slowly walks over to the whole crew (with piercing eyes). Just as you are ready to pack up and escape the usual “sit on the curb” back ground check, the security guard mummers something…in disbelief, your mood brightens up and you take a deep breath because the guy just said “you can skate here, I just didn’t SEE you”.
This year's Winterclash was by far the biggest one that has happened in its six year history! We still get goosebums watching the edits of the highlights and the hype of the crowd. To keep the excitement through the summer time about ths World's biggest rollerblading competition we release now the second episode of our special Winterclash behind-the-scenes view. We have talked to several PRO riders as well as other people that are connected with the sport to get their opinion about the competition, the new Winterclash venue and the current state of Rollerblading.
It's safe to say that what you and I take for granted isn't the reality in most of South America. We assume we can order a pair of skates online and have them shipped to our house. We assume we can see pros at a comp in our country. South America? Not so much. And yet they have one of the most vibrant scenes anywhere in the world - read on!
Jero was kind enough to send along some additional shots of Demetrios George from the recent 2010 USD South America Tour!
Every top rollerblader in the world is here right now in Berlin for Winterclash...
John, I have answered your questions below, but before I do that there are some topics I need to cover first... Let's start out with the controversial Be-Mag interview that was recently released.
Two years ago I moved to Spain, Malaga and met 2 skaters, Migue and Uani, who introduced me to the Spanish scene, and soon I had the great opportunity of discovering Barcelona for myself, where soon I met Oli Benet who offered me a place on Deshi. I accepted as I saw the big plans the brand had for the future. I’m in love with Deshi and...
A great short from Chile showcasing the South American girls skate scene.
Check out this girls skating! Nathalia skates hard, with style and with that certain amount of recklessness that we have learned to associate with Brazilian skating. Enjoy..
Wake up, here is a new face! It's Francielle Felix shredding it up in the streets of Sao Paulo.
It the first part of this edit, Maicao is explaining the philosophy of the brand new build Peruibe Skate Park in Peruibe, Brazil. In the second part you can see the local bladers go all out in order to win the Second Stop of the Peruibe Skate Park Series 2011. So check out the video and get a great glimpse of the roller scene in Brazil!
Fábio Fontoura, from Brazil, takes you out for a first spin on his brand new Shima Skates. He is a great talent and absolutely killing it on the streets. By featuring the Brazilian urban setting this edit creates a nice atmosphere.
Take something old...fix it, clean-it, and make something fresh. We're bladers and this is what we do. Usually, on a smaller scale then you are about to see. Take a look and see how Michael Coronato and his community rebuilt the Peruibe skatepark in Brazil and to make it brand new all over again. All finished and ready to go, the first stop of the Peruibe Skatepark Series is held and it turns out to be a truly sick competition. Bon Apatite, bladers!
Here we go with Stefan Horngacher's section taken from the 'Razors Game Theory' section. If you expect the ordinary, don't watch it. Stefan is a creative dude that makes non-skateable spots to skateable ones. Epic section.
Flowmagvideos posted up the full video of 'Mete a Mala'. Here we've got the Fabio Enes profile. Check it out.
Here is a diverse collection of Carlos Pianowski clips from the past years. Whatever he does on skates, you can be sure it's epic.
